I have reservations for a Studio from Wed, June 27-Sun. July 1 at Wilderness Lodge. We will then move to a SSR 1 BDR from Sun. July 1-Wed. July 4. We have never stayed at either place. Should we stay at SSR the whole time? (WL not available July 1-4) Do you think the move will be a hassle? We will have 2 adults and 1 child (female-11). Is WL much better than SSR. My previous DVC experince is at OKW in a Studio and a 2BDR (loved this!!!!!!!)

Also, my daughter really wants to stay at Beach Club, but the only way we can do this is 2 day at SSR, 2 day at BC then 3 days at SSR.

Any thoughts or advice?

If you think changing resorts will be disruptive to your vacation schedule, I'd just stay at SSR the whole time. However if you can handle moving, you'll be able to check out 2 DVC resorts in one trip. (*note: BCV isn't usually available at the last minute) This experience is invaluable when you're sorting through all of the "where should I stay" threads here on the DIS. Nothing like your own experience to determine what works for you and yours.

If it were me I'd do the split stay, but you know your family best.

Have a great trip!

Will you have a car? That makes changing resorts much easier. Just pack everything up the night before except what you need for the day. Put it in the trunk and then the next morning go check into the new resort. If your room in ready great - if not just chech in, park the car and go about your day until it is ready or you are ready to leave the parks or whatever else you are doing. If you don't have a car pretty much the same thing except you call bell services to come get your luggage and tranfer it to the next resort. You can then bus over and check in. From WLV go to Mk and then to SSR or to DDT and then walk or bus to SSR. You can do this any time during the day but most people like to check in early and then go about their day. You could always waitlist for BCV which would be my choice over VWL but that is a purely personal thing. I found the rooms at VWL to be dark and while be enjoyed out stay there I would rather be able to use the SAB pool during that time of year. My favorite is OKW which you already know about.

Interesting...The thing I was concerned about the most was the whether or not the rooms would be too dark at WL. When I look at the pictures, they seem much darker than the other resorts.

We are splitting our first DVC stay into 3 nights BWV and 2 SSR. We just want to see the various resorts. . .learn what there is to love about each one. We are not complicated people who get uptight about a lot of things, so for us, we decided to give the split stay a try. If we do not like it, we won't do it again unless we have to.
At the moment, we have a 1 day car rental from afternoon to afternoon the day we are moving. We know that bell services can move us, but we have some other reasons we want the car too (dinner at Jiko, stopping at a grocery, going to Richard Petty) so we chose to rent it the day we moved to make everything easier.

We really want to try VWL too. Give us a full report if this is what you decide! Good Luck!
