Hi all! I've been lurking for a few months....planning my first trip to Disney ..but now have a dilemma I would like help withi!

I have reservations at WL woodsview room May 4 - 11...$239/night, CAA rate. I now have booked with a code POLY garden view same price! I can't decide which one to do!

I have two boys 4 and 6 years, and my husband...we first liked poly for the monorail, but couldn't afford the original $335/night price. I researched the WL here and liked the theming, bunk beds, what seems to be relaxing atmosphere...also all under one roof is nice! Now I have the code for poly and can get it at teh same price - I am so am confused...I have that disney resort anxiety disorder that you've all referred to here.

I had convinced myself that WL was the one for us,now rethinking...like look of the theming at the POLY too...and the mono rail!

Can you help me decide?

We are a little bit resort snobs...want to be able to relax by the pools for some downtime after the parks with my small boys...fear that poly might be run down given its age...but also convenience is important...all underone roof for WL is nice..monorail at poly...nice theme......bunk beds at WL....aaahh!

Help please...

Thanks!

We love WL. Beautiful hotel and pool area. The boat ride to MK is very easy and very relaxing. All under one roof is a huge plus. I think your boys will love it !

If they are the same price- go for the Polynesian definitly!! You can't beat the convenience of their transportation and the rooms are a LOT bigger!

Nothing rundown about the Polynesian, infact more of the Polynesian has been redone lately than most of the resorts. Also if you want relaxing my pick would be the Polynesian. You also would have some of the largest rooms onsite.

See my web page for Polynesian info and photos and see all they have done lately.

One of the things I love most about WL is that everything is under one roof. I want to stay at the Poly but my main concern is how spread out it is. I enjoy the boat ride to MK. I love the grounds at WL.

I'd go with the Poly if it was the same price...being on the monorail is awesome and I think your boys will love the slide!

That is a very good price for the Poly, but not the WL. Wonder why they are the same? They are usually very different. :confused3 But you got lucky. I would NOT pass on the poly for that price.  :cool1: The room size is amazing! Monorail acess. Even if you hated the "polynesian theme" I would still love it at that price for the other thrills. :cheer2: Definately think this over. Check out tikiman's site about the polynesian resort, and see if your interested and pay attention to the sq. footage. :)

Congratulations on your code! ::MickeyMo

Hi: Go with the poly, you may never see the poly that low again.

Sitting on the beach chairs, watching the castle across the lake change colours. The walk from the one end to the other is not bad maybe 5 min. The grounds are SO BEAUTIFUL AND LUSH, believe me it is not a bad thing to be walking around the poly.

The room size at the poly is huge I think over 400 sq ft, we were four adults and had tons of space.
Large washroom as well

You get two queen beds and a single bed size day bed. There is a patio or balcony. The animal life is neat. In may you will have the families of mother ducks and babies floating in the little streams, and wandering around as well as these bigger white stork like birds and the bunnies May is a great time to go. I just love the tropical look of the poly.

I can't say enough about the poly. I have visited the wl but not stayed there it is very nice as well, but we like having more room to explore meaning the grounds. We stayed at akl love it too, but for hubby loves the grounds of the poly. Check out tikimans site.

Hi check out this thread a little below yours, and scroll down about 6 replies and look at the pic of the castle from the poly beach.

For the same price, I'd choose Poly. That is a great price for Poly. Maybe plan to stay at WL your next trip to WDW. It can usually be booked at a lower rate than the $239 you currently have. Of course, it does depend on the season.

Besides the convenience of the monorail at Poly, you will love the restaurants. O'Hanas has a character breakfast and a really nice dinner too. We didn't think it looked old or run-down when we stayed there last November.

We're splitting our stay between these 2 great resorts because we were booked for WL and I couldn't get Poly out of my head.

For the price, I'd take the Poly...just wondering if you could get a better rate at the WL with your code. Then the choices would get interesting.

We have stayed at both, but like others said, that is a good price for the Poly but high for the WL, so I would choose the Poly. You can always try WL next time. The Poly is a great resort for families with young children. There are two nice pools to choose from, kids love walking down the pretty paths, the monorail is always convenient with little ones, etc. Have fun, either way! :)

First of all....Welcome to the Dis!

I've stayed at both too many times to count......Take the POLY and run! :cool1:

Have you checked to see if you can use the code to get an even lower rate at wl?

I actually called and asked if I was eligible for a code that I've seen here, (since removed from the board) to be applied to my WL ressie, and was told no, not available, but was offered a cabin at $159. I didn't really want a cabin, so I thought I'd take a chance, and said - what about Poly? and was offered the $239 rate...I'm still in shock!

Based on all your feedback Im now leaning toward Poly...but will need to check if I will be charged any cancellation fees on my WL res....I reserved room only through AAA (CAA here in Canada)

Thanks for the advice!

I have never had the opportunity to stay at either resort, but from a purely financial standpoint I would go with the Poly. AAA rates are not nearly as good, or as difficult to come by as code rates are. Code rates seem to be dissapearing, so I would jump at the chance to stay at the Poly while you have it!

Between the monorial, the view of the fireworks from the Lagoon and the awesome theming of the resort, it's the Polynesian hands down.

We've stayed four there times in four years, while staying at other resorts for short visits to check them out. We keep returning to the Polynesian.

We'll be visiting the WL shortly. I was tempted to cancel it for the Polynesian instead because the WL only has bus/boat access to MK. Transportation can make or break a long day at the parsk. Also, consider the location and view - In the evenings, imagine taking a walk "in your backyard" on the beach to watch the boat parade and fireworks each evening.

After a long day, that monorail is a lifesaver with two small children.

Do yourself a favor...Do the Polynesian.

Definitely the Poly. The rooms are much bigger. The monorail and boat to MK will be much quicker than the longer boat ride from WL, and you can walk to the TTC to take the monorail to Epcot.
