WL or CSR?

We just thought we had decided! Now we are seriously debating WL or CSR. Mainly because of the outdoor activities we see at CSR. How is WL on outdoor activities? Are they comparable? We are so confused!

When are you going? I think CSR is great and to me fits more with the hotter months. WL has that warm and cozy feel to it that I think fits more in the winter months.

TO me, CSR has everything I need without the added cost of a deluxe. Great pool, awesome transportation and good food. Check out my CSR website below for pics and info.

We really love both resorts! In fact we'll be at CSR in less than 3 weeks!!!!!

Why did we choose CSR over WL for this vacation? Budget, Pepper Market, proximity to Blizzard Beach (we're stressing the water parks on this trip)

Both resorts are well themed. Very different, but beautiful in their own way.

CSR - Pepper Market (if on DDP) is the best CS deal on Disney property.
WL - Whispering Canyon Cafe - great restaurant for fun.

CSR- outdoor corridors
WL- indoor corridors (my preference)

CSR- double beds
WL- queen beds, and bunk beds are offered (my preference)

CSR- single sink in bathroom area adjacent to bedroom
WL- double sinks in separate bathroom

Both pools are themed well, however, IMHO CSR has a much better slide
Both resorts have hot tubs, but I prefer the view from WL

CSR - great bus transportation that is not shared with other resorts
WL - also has boat transportation to Magic Kingdom (I love the boat ride)

WL - located adjacent to Fort Wilderness and it's activities (campfire singalong, Hoop de Doo Review, pony rides, trail rides). Also separate boat loop that goes to CR, FW, and WL.

Good luck with your decision. Whichever resort you choose I am sure you will enjoy!

We've stayed at both and definitely prefer WL.

What kind of activities are you looking for? WL has boat and bike rentals.

There's a list of activities in the WL FAQ thread here:

The rooms are much better at WL. More room and your own balcony/patio. You'll get queen beds as well (or queen and bunk beds). We had a standard view and were able to see Wishes from our balcony.

It was great taking the boat over to the MK, very relaxing.

We've never stayed at the WL--although we have visited a couple of times. It is not one of the deluxes we would choose to stay at if we chose to spend the money on deluxe. We really like the CSR (we are staying for the 7th time in a little over three months). We like the hot tub, quiet pools, landscaping, spa, fitness center and food court at CSR very much.

Yeah that was our problem. csr is 149 per night and 225 per night.

We like the pool area of csr, but wl you can see the fireworks and the water parade from the beach or room . CSR has their own bus system that not shared with the other resorts. Right? We booked the WL , we hope we made the right decision. They were 400 dollars different in price. We would have probably stayed at csr had we been able to get our dates. We found some dates that worked for us but they were still in Aug. And we hope its dreadfully hot when we go, so we wanted to be later in the free dining plan time frame. If only a couple weeks. Hows that for flawed logic? Thanks for your help. This board truly helped us make our decision easier. Theres so much to choose from and this our first on resort experience.

I'm sure you'll be happy with the WL. It's a beautiful resort.

I have stayed at wl, csr, por and some others..while WL is not one of my favorites, csr is one of my least favorites. I didn;t like the color scheme and whole Buzz's pics look great, it just was not the theming I enjoy.
wl was also too dark for me, I like the beach looking resorts..that said if i had to choose between csr and wl, hands down wl

you will enjoy..ride the boats everywhere you go

WL is my favorite resort. There are many outdoor activities including renting mouseboats, a beach, renting bikes and riding over to Fort Wilderness to see the animals, beautiful pool and waterfall, and even a geyser. AND it is so much fun sitting in the rocking chairs in front of the HUGE fireplace after a long day at the park. We alway go in the summer and the summer heat has not taken anything away from the Wilderness theme.

Yes, those deluxe prices are just too much for us with one son graduating from college in two weeks (but now deciding to go back for his masters) and another son with three years left to go. CSR does have it's own bus system.

I am sure you will enjoy your time at WL. You can always try CSR another time if you want. Have fun.

I agree, CSR offers everything I need in a resort and then some.

Well, whenever we do to WDW, we try to do a split stay to allow ourselves to enjoy 2 totally different resorts in 1 trip. We just make sure we stay in the smaller size room first. It is much harder to move from a larger room to smaller, at least for us!
We have combined ASMU/CONTEMPORARY; WL/DOLPHIN; POP/POLY
and on other trips stayed at CBR only, or the Dolphin only for shorter stays.
Try it if you are really unsure, it is a great way to experience bothresorts at the cost of travel for one trip.

Yeah 400 is a lot for us as well. But I couldn't get our dates. oh well huh, just not as much money left in the ole bank account.
