We are planning to take our 5 year old triplets to Disney in April of 2005. We'll also be celebrating our 10th anniversary. We're considering the Jr. Suites at the Wilderness Lodge. Can anyone who stayed there (in Jr. Suites) give us some feedback on this particular room?
In addition, when should I reserve this room? Are there any codes for this room? If so, when do they come out? Is it OK to book the room then book the flight at a later date?
Thanks!

Hi. I wanted to respond to your question on the Jr. Suites. We stayed in one last May at WL. It had a separate bedroom off the living room w/ 2 beds (dont remember if the beds were Queen or Full) The couch in the living pulled out as well. The bathroom had 2 entrances, 1 leading to the bedroom, the other leading to hallway which opened up into the living room. It also had a fridge/sink area. We had a balcony facing the lake. hope that helps.;)

Did you like the room and feel it was a good value for the cost? Do all of these type rooms have a balcony? :)

Yes, I thought the room was very nice, thought I do not know if every one of the suites has a balcony. Do I feel it was a good value?? Well, since you asked......no. But that is not because of the room, its because (uh-oh, dare I say it for fear of getting flamed) We did not like the Lodge. Whew! There I said it. Wow I feel a lot better. :earsgirl:

Ohmygosh, you didn't like the lodge????

Boy, will you ever get flamed!!! lol

I love the lodge, but I am from the Pacific Northwest, so it feels like home to me. I haven't stayed at the GF, but I just can't see myself there. I've stayed at the AKL and wouldn't want to stay there again (dark rooms, I love visiting the hotel, though). That's the wonderful thing about the WDW resorts--there really is something for everyone.

Other than the room being divided, we did not feel the jr. suite felt any bigger than a regular room at the GF. I have heard the Poly rooms are about the same size as the GF. Since my DD was only 8 months old, the divided room helped when trying to get her to sleep. Now that the DDs are older I would not stay in this room, I did not think it was worth the money. We did love the WL and maybe if we were a family of 5 I would feel differently. As far as a discount, I think it is easier to get a discount room at the GF or Poly than get a discount on a jr. suite??
Have you thought of renting points for a villa from a DVC member? Depending on what season you are going there may not be a big difference in cost and you would have tons of space plus a full kitchen.

Uh oh! Here comes the flames!;) Only kidding! WL is not for everyone...you have to like that particular theming, in order to like the resort. Plus, you are right about the size of the rooms. WL has the smallest standard rooms out of all the deluxe hotels...so a deluxe suite would be bigger than a standard, but not necessarily larger than some of the rooms at other deluxe hotels. Me personally, I love WL!...and would stay in a deluxe suite as an added bonus! By the way, the deluxe suites have 2 Queen beds!

The Jr Suites at the WL are 500 square Feet. It has an entry way where there is a closet and a door into the bathroom area. The entryway leads into the living room where there is a dining table with two chairs, a pull out sofa, a coffee table, a armoire with TV and two chairs on either side of that, a wet bar with fridge and ice maker, two windows above the TV and a sliding glass door onto the balconey. There is a set of double French doors with sheer curtains that leads into the bedroom where there are two queen beds, and armoire for cloths, a TV on a dresser, loads of windows and a small glass door onto a standing room balcony. There is a door into the bathroom area here too.
We all loved the JR suite and at the time I thought it was one of the best deals on the property as it was about the same price as a regular room at the Grand Floridian.
I have not heard of these rooms ever getting discounted.

we stayed in jr suite/deluxe room the beginning of February-room 5166.
the divided room was nice, we didn't have to go to bed the same
time as our toddler. plus 2 tv's were great.
it had enough room-my complaint-not enough storage.
there is one dresser with 3 drawers and a drawer under the tv in the bedroom. no enough room at all for the 3 of us for 7 days.
also-they are way far from the elevator. after a day hiking in the parks, it was tiring to have to hike in the hotel. plus we had concierge access and that was an additional hike. it was a long walk for a 3 year old.
that being said-we enjoyed our stay & liked the WL.

FYI... a lodge tower room at the GF has 74sq. feet more than the deluxe room at WL. It is also cheeper than the WL room if you have AAA. There is no AAA discount at WL for a deluxe room type. Have not yet stayed in either type room, but the room at GF does sound like a better deal.
