WL in December

We have some extended family that is wanting to go to WDW the first week of December (check-in on Nov. 30) and stay at WL. We are also wanting to go that week and want to stay at VWL. The problem is that VWL is not our home resort.... so we can not book until the around June 4th and I'm afraid that there will be no availability at VWL and possibly none at our home resort SSR .

I'm wondering if we should (and if it is possible) to book SSR now for that week and then at the beginning of June see about getting the ressie swithced if availability exists. I think the week is less points at VWL so I don't want to do this if we would lose those extra points should we get VWL but I also don't want to not make the SSR ressie and then get shut out from everything. Did that make sense?

I would absolutely follow that plan. That first week of December is difficult everywhere, and VWL is the hardest to get at 7th month. Get your ressie locked down at SSR and the waitlist for VWL. You may get it if you grab the waitlist early. If not, you will still have a room at Disney.

I do own at VWL and I'm planning on beng there the first week of December myself. We bought at VWL just for this advantage of booking for that time of year. I will be calling later this week on a day by day basis.

If you want a place to stay that week, I agree you need to book where you can and then try to change in June.

I would do what you suggest, but a stay at VWL will require more points than a comparative stay at SSR.

Your success will also depend on the type of villa that you want. Studios will be harder to get than 1 bedrooms.

Thanks everyone! I will be on the phone with MS Wednesday morning to set up something at SSR and then hope and hope and hope and keep my fingers and toes crossed that we can get VWL in Dec. I'd hate to kick my SIL/BIL out of their WL room just so I can soak in the atmosphere of the Lodge.

We will definately be looking at buying a VWL resale soon! We love that place!
