I am confused how it really compensates for lost ammenities and construction to get $100 off rack rate when chances are they would offer 30-40% off in October, even for courtyard that won't be as effected. With the rack rate at WL, wouldn't you basically be getting the room for what you would have anyway even if they weren't renovating?

If a room discount happens, maybe it can also be applied to the room along with the $100 off?

Ugh, don't even get me started on this topic. I think everyone should get the credit automatically or nobody should. If Disney really feels the construction is going to adversely affect guests then it should be a blanket credit to everyone. Deciding who is deserving of a credit or who even knows the possibility of a credit exists seems tedious and a recipe for disaster.

We called and were granted 30% off our Woods view room. I completely get that it's the typical room discount offer, however, for the week I'm going, there are currently only club level rooms available, so no discount would likely have been available to me at my room level for my week when (and if) they do roll out. I took the 30% because it's better than nothing, and it does seem that construction will be primarily on just one side of the resort during our stay (near the DVC villas). I will switch to PORQ if it turns out to be looking like a total mess.

Similar question, we've been offered a credit of $100 per night. Not a discount, the credit sounds like it would be cash applied to our room balance but we have the UK free dining offer so we won't be spending that much on food etc and we don't buy many Disney souvenirs. Does anyone know of a way the credit can be spent on MNSSHP tickets, tours etc? Or am I better calling WDTC again and trying for a discount instead of credit?

I tried for a resort switch and there is no standard view rooms available at deluxe resorts!!

I think they're picking who gets discounts based on when people booked. If people were booked before construction was announced, they're getting offers. Booking knowing that construction is going on, you're well aware of the situation.

I switched our trip to BC partly because of this. I had booked a deluxe room CL at WL after the construction was announced. I figured I would be able to get some kind of discount after they went into effect. The room was not included in the 25% offer, or the family package offer or the early 2016 room only offer. Over $10,000 for Feb 26 to Mar 7 with 2 10 day base tickets. It was bugging me so much to be paying a rack rate to stay in a construction zone. Last year, the same deluxe room CL at the BC for basically the same time frame was just about $7000!! I got the BC, water view CL room (not deluxe) for $8000 this time. The rates are certainly higher this year.

We booked back in May so well before construction was announced.

What I mainly want to know is if we take the $100 per night credit is how it can be spent. Some things need to be booked in advance and if the credit is on the room account I don't know if we can use the cash to pay for those.

We were at Wilderness lodge on a very good discount through runDisney. When we were given the $100 off it was on top of our discounted rate. We were not given just a room credit. It was returned to the original purchase form which for us was a credit card. We were informed that the credit was only for people who booked prior to booking and that if any further discounts were offered we would pay the difference of the new price which was minus the 100 off a night. So if we originally paid 1500 for our 4 nights the credit brought it down to 1100. When we moved to Poly we were only given the 1100 we had paid not the 1500 the entire package was worth when having to pay the difference.

We ended up not staying at the Lodge after all and moved to the Poly several weeks before leaving for WDW.

Oh, that makes sense, now I feel better, the didn't offer me anything and it was noisy and not so nice without a quiet pool

Well we booked in April this year, before the news, for October next year...14 nights of magic at a resort we stayed at last year for the first time..Last year we got a good deal with 40% off room rate, and a $250 gift voucher for the main pool closure..However for next year we have the 14 day ticket for the price of 7..The free memory maker..Free DDP...another $200 gift voucher..Oh and now $1400 on our resort tab to spend on anything on Disney property..Making our savings over $4.500...If that ain't magical, then I don't know what is..The only noise I'll hear is my son running down to the boat at 07.00am for MK, and later on at night the sound of the three of us eating at Artist Point..Free of charge of course...lol..

They gave you the $100 credit off every night of your stay? If so, that's interesting, since they said they had capped the nightly credit to a max of 4? nights.

I'm also on a UK Disney fan site, and that's when I read about other UK guests were getting offers of either another resort or a $100 per day credit..So last week I decided to phone and put my concerns about the construction and was put on hold for about 10 minutes..The CM offered us a move to AKL or receive the $100 per day credit to which I agreed on, she then put me on hold again for several minutes, then confirmed that $1400 would be put on our tab at WL to spend on anything on Disney property..

That must be the difference. We were refunded to our original purchase method. By giving you 1400 on credit they are probably losing pennies to dollars compared to those where were given actual refunds.

...soo when do I need to be there again to help you spend all that credit? :P

Kidding aside...that's great, congrats. Just make sure you have lots of luggage room avail for all those goodies!

Trust me..We will spend that for fun..We have three large cases on wheels and two smaller cabin ones, also on wheels..Last year they were full of souvenir stuff..In fact we had to carry on to the plane 3 Larry Dotson prints..lol

How do you get a credit? I just got the letter in the mail saying that the resort will be under construction while we're there next April. But it didn't say anything about calling to get a credit.

Thanks in advance for any help! :)

If there is a number on the letter, call and complain. You won't automatically get one, you need to complain. Also it seems that UK guests are getting credits but USA guests are getting refunds.

The big question is when did you book your room? If it was after they announced the construction then they won't do anything but if it was before you can call and say you just heard about the construction and would like to know what they can do for you as you aren't happy about it.
