A friend was able to get us Concierge rooms at WL for December at the same price as Standard view. I can't believe this. This will be such an amazing trip. Our first time to see the Christmas decorations, our first stay at Wilderness Lodge, and our first every Concierge stay anywhere. I don't think anything can make this trip more magical.

Anyone stay WL-Concierge recently? Any thoughts on what we can expect?

That is great. We stayed there last year and checked in expecting a standard view and they had upgraded us to Concierge. The staff was excellent and the food was good. The breakfast was great and they have tables you can sit at that look down on the lobby. Have a great time.

Thanks for the reply Sandyneck.

I looked at Allearsnet for reports on WL concierge and couldn't find anything recent. I would really love to hear from anyone who has stayed recently. Any info on what it is like would be great. We have no idea what to expect as we have never stayed Concierge anywhere.

Any info would be great.

Thanks.

We stayed at WL/concierge last week. It's our third trip to the resort but first at the concierge level. The 7th floor is all concierge and you'll need to use your resort key on the elevator to gain access to the floor. If you take the main elevators, the concierge CM's are right there. Just down the hall are the offerings. There is no actual "lounge" but tables are alongside the railings overlooking the massive lobby. Quite a few!

In the morning, there was cereal, danish, small croissants, muffins, coffee, tea, oj, milk, chocolate milk (you need to ask CM to get for you), and bagels. I think there was also oatmeal but don't quote me. It serves from 7-10:00 daily. (Note: There are cardboard trays under the table and plastic cups if you want to carry something to your room, etc.)

At 12:00-3:00 (?), there was an asst. of cookies, pop, iced tea, lemonade, and water (not bottled water--but a large bottle to pour into individual glasses). This was a disappointment for us. We liked the small bottled water. We'd grab one on the way to the pool or parks. There was also gummy worms and asst. nuts.

Between 5:00-7:00 - a very nice asst. of cheeses and crackers, a soup (good--but it was always too hot outside to really want too much soup), a veggie plate with dip, crustless PB&J sandwiches. There was also a small asst. of wines available as well as pop, water, etc. There is generally one hot dish a night as well. During our trip there was stew, pasta and spring rolls.

8:00-10:00 - desserts -- brownies, cookies, cobbler, etc. and after dinner cordials.

If you want something that wasn't out, just ask the CM. Usually they could bring it out for you. Honestly, this was one of the things I did not like at WL. We've stayed at Poly/Conc. twice and almost everything (exc. choc milk) was out. Sometimes I couldn't find a CM at WL or they were busy with other guests and I just gave up and walked away after waiting for a few minutes. I found everything to be great but the offerings were minimal in comparison to WL especially the desserts and night. It's possible the concierge level wasn't that busy when I was there and that's why--I'm just not sure.

Everyone was very friendly and willing to help out. Concierge CM's can also make all your PS reservations for you if you like. I've used concierge (when I was at Poly) to have a Pal Mickey waiting on the bed at check in for the kids, etc. They will purchase items and charge them to your credit card upon your request. I always liked having something small for the kids at check in. As well, I've shipped my own goodies/gifts from home to concierge and each day they placed an item in the room for us after we left for the park.

Overall, concierge is great but it depends on your specific situation. If you plan to spend all your time at the parks, IMO it's not worth the extra dollars. I certainly would recommend everyone try it just once. It's nice to feel a little pampered once in a while.

Thanks very much, Disneyfanatic60, for the post. As we have never stayed at Concierge, we really don't have any expectations. We also will not be in the hotel much - so probably won't be able to benefit from anything except the breakfast offerings. It was an unexpected treat to be able to get Concierge and since we will probably never do it again, I am sure we will enjoy it.

Thanks again for all your info.

************* pretty much hit it right on. There was oatmeal in the morning. Just note that they do put things away on time (ie at 10 AM SHARP they were taking away the breakfast offerings, etc.)

I wouldn't pay the regular rate to stay CL again, but if you got it for the same price as standard, that's great! Enjoy!

What discount did you get to get Concierge for the price of Standard, this is a great deal?

that have been to WL concierge!

When sitting on your room balcony, is the height of the rail above eye level? It seems to be in pix I have seen.

Thanks in advance!

Sammie,
One of my husband's co-workers has a dtr who works at WDW and she was able to get us the rate. It was really nice and very unexpected. The co-worker knew we were planning to go and called her dtr and then told my husband. He didn't ask for it - it was just something she did. A little Disney magic right here at home!

Disney Ron,
I have never stayed at WL CL but from everything I have read, the balcony rails are high and you have to be standing to see over them. I have read on many of the posts that people were very disappointed not to be able to sit and enjoy the view. But, I am sure someone who has been will come along and give you more details.

Tek224,
Thanks for the info. We will be leaving the resort early every morning so that shouldn't be a problem. The only concern I have is whether or not things will be out as early as we tend to leave.

Does anyone know how early they put out the breakfast offerings on CL at WL? We will be taking advantage of EMH (assuming that they have it then) and want to make sure that there will be something out before we leave. Any info would be great.

Hi, we were in CL at the WL in April. The upgrade was free but if I was paying -- I would have complained.

The food/drink offerings were very limited. As other posters have stated -- you had to ask for things. Which was a pain.

For example:
They did have bottled water, but you had to ask. So we had the CM's running for water left and right! Water for the parks, water when we returned from parks and water again when going back to the parks at night!

They only had soda, beer and wine out at night. So in the afternoon -- DD's had to ask for soda's to bring to pool area.

We saw mom's asking for milk in the afternoon for their little ones to have a milk and cookie.

I understand not having the beer and wine out because of minors. But the soda, milk and bottled water should be available.

Oh and they are quick to take away food/drinks/.

The balcony walls are high!! We could not see over ours when sitting! That being said We had a clear view of the castle and of the monorail because we were so high!!! Give and take I guess.

Does anyone know the reason for the WALLS on the 7th floor? Maybe it is a safety issue?

Hope this helps!

Hey Just noticed you are from little Rhody too!!!

Up for a coffee milk, some quahogs and a GRINDA? :hyper:

You definitely cannot sit on the balcony and see over the railings. They are much to high. You would have to stand to see outside. BTW--we did watch the most gorgeous sunrise over the lagoon on our last morning! If you are up early enough, it's worth catching it.

Also, they do "not" have bottled water in "individual" bottles any longer. I asked specifically because we always took them to the pool and parks. They have "large" glass bottles which can serve more than several people. They were willing to give us one (they actually have to open and leave the cap off if they give you one) to take back to our room. It was probably the size of a larger wine bottle (not sure how many ounces). It was almost to big to fit into the refrigerator--it only fit on the side door--because there was no cap to lay it flat.

I'm guessing this was a cost saving situation for them. Clearly we did not consume as much as we might have if they were right in the open (pop, water, etc.) As I said, often they were busy and we got tired of waiting and did without. Or it was after 10:00 and no one was there to get one from.

As far as exact times, yes the times are exact. We found they followed the times almost to the minute. No room for fluxuation on that.

Hopes this helps everyone!
