WL Conceirge check in ?

I've read on another thread about receiving special keys before arrival to get up to the conceirge floor, does the WL also do this? Is this also where we'll be checking in{bypassing the front desk?}. We'll be staying in a Honeymoon room for our anniversary and it's our first time with conceirge and at the WL so any help is greatly appreciated!

We had to tell the main desk our names, then someone from the concierge staff came down & got us, showed us how the keys would work, took us to the 7th floor and checked us in.
