Can we book room-only for 2 adults and 1 child (12) and bring our 22 year old son (avoiding xtra adult in room charge) and buy tix separately from AAA for the 4 of us?

Well, no one here is going to tell you it's OK to go against Disney policy. Also, anyone not registered as a guest in the room will not get a KTTW, and would not be able to go to EMH, so you'd be losing one of the best perks of staying on property. If you are flying, he wouldn't be able to use ME either.

If the $25 per night is that much of a budget consideration, I would try a mod instead of a deluxe to bring your overall costs down, or consider more counter service dining and less table service.

Your adult son would also not be able to use the pool. It is for registered guests only. They do random "room key" checks at pools. If he doesn't have a room key, he'd be asked to leave.

Thanks for the responses...the pool is a risk worth taking...the EMHs aren't that important and it's not "that much of a budget consideration", but saving $150 on a silly rule is worth it to me, and I'd be asking the same question if we were staying at a Mod. I mean, we're not pileing two couples into one room, he's my kid for goodness sakes. Disney's policy should take that into consideration.

:rolleyes1

It IS hard to see those kids grow up and turn into adults, but that's what he is.....many, if not most hotels all over have a similar policy.

Just to warn you, this thread will most likely get ugly......
It is against Disney policy, if you were to get caught your entire family will be asked to leave the resort, do you want to risk that?
Even if you do include your 22 year old son in the room count, your sleeping arrangements are going to be cramped. There are only 2 queen beds in the room. I've stayed at the WL and even though it is a deluxe resort it has smaller rooms than the Poly, GF etc.
Do you absolutely have to stay at the WL? What about booking 2 rooms at a moderate or a value? This would certainly give you more room.

Just as an aside, when I was 23, I paid for my parents and my sister and I to stay for 10 days at CR. I paid for the room, the food and the tickets. OK, it wasn't as expensive as it is now, but I wasn't making as much money then as I do now either.

I don't know your son's financial situation, but could your son pony up his own extra adult charge? After all, the extra adult charge is a lot less than having him book his own room.

If you don't like Disney's policies, stay somewhere else!!!
No one is making you stay on property.

I have 3 children all over 18 and we still do family vacations. We try to stay at DVC resorts or Ft. Wilderness Cabins where they don't charge for the extra adults, or if we stay at Deluxe (Yacht Club, etc.) we will pay the extra charge, it's the right thing to do.

The rules have been stated. We don't promote breaking the rules here on the DIS.
