Welcome to the DIS!! You will love it here!! :)

We are going during the same time. It is their slow season, so I believe the crowds should be very light. And, regarding the weather, I have seen on other posts that people go at the same time each year, and have had it cold 1 yr. & warm the next! So, I would recommend just watching the forecasts before you go! ;)

Hi everyone! we are going from Dec 4th through Dec.11! hope to see some of you there. I have been asking everyone possible and I hear the same things....crowds are way down and the weather is unpredictable. I talked to a cast member on the phone the other day to make resies for mvmcp and she told me that it was in the 40 degree range last year and had gotten as far as 18 degrees! BRRRR! I guess the best we can do is watch weather reports right before we go and pack a bit of EVERYTHING!
luckilly, most pools etc. are heated to 80 degrees so as long as you stay in them...you won't be a popsicle! I am all FOR lighter crowds too. The last time we went to WDW was first week in June 2000 and it was PACKED! could have been something to do with the millennia I guess but either way it was busy.

We went the week after Thanksgiving last year and it was COLD! We had a couple of nice days, but for the most part we avoided anything rides that would get us wet. We went swimming one night when it was 58 deg (F)! The crowds were small, but we went to the Osborne lights on Sat night and it was very crowded. I loved the Christmas season.

Does anyone know when the lights go up and the Osborne display opens? I'm thinking of a possible trip the week before Thanksgiving, is that too soon for Christmas displays?

Sorry to be the one to inform you, but the Osborne lights will NOT be displayed this year. Something about the area where they're normally displayed is being refurbished or torn down and replaced and there's no where else to display them this year. There are several posts on this board regarding this subject. I've never seen them, but I was looking forward to seeing them this year.

We are visiting WDW the first week of December also, Dec. 1 - 6. There are several posts regarding the weather on this board and, as others have stated, the weather is unpredictable this time of year but crowds are WAYYYYYYYY down (I know that's why we're going! LOL). The best bit of advice offered is pack for everything.

We're staying at POR. Hope to see you there!

Mark

Yeah, I am really sorry that the Osborn Lights won't be on this year too! I have heard so much about them. We opted to go to the mvmcp this year instead...heard it was really good. Hope to see some of you there too! Helen

We are avid fans of seeing Disney in early December and will be there again this year. The Osborne lights are truly "one of a kind," so it's too bad they will not be up this year. Something to look forward to next time. Just remember to take some time and visit the resorts to get a taste of all their Christmas decorations--they're as much, and sometimes, more impressive than the Osborne lights. Now the wx is unpredictable in December, but shoot, you're at Disney--make the best of it! Take long and short pants, a jacket and if it's cold the whole time--buy some new clothes on park. One big tip--you're on vacation--take some down time to stop and smell the roses.
