I went to the Universal site today and it looks like there will only be 3 "rides" and a half dozen or so shops (typical...)
What I was wondering, is if anyone has any more info on the rides. I know the Dragon ride is the old Dueling Dragons roller coaster. But what about Journey and Flight of the Hippogrif. Mostly I want to know if they will be anything I can take my 2 yr old on. I am hoping that the journey ride at hogwarts is like the Haunted Mansion and won't have any age/height requirements. THey describe the Hippogriff ride as a "family coaster"...
It will be a very big dissapointment if my husband and I plan to go there and can do nothing with our daughter and even worse have to split up to see the (IMHO) Pathetic assortment of 3 attractions. No matter how spectacular the theming is, its supposed to be an amusement park, not a shopping mall. I really do hope they have at least one attraction to offer families with very young children.

Flight of the Hippogriff is also a rethemed ride, used to be Flight of the Unicorn of something like that. I'm not sure if it has a height requirement. The new Journey attraction is a thrill ride using a new robotic arm technology which I'm sure is not family friendly. Sorry, it really doesn't sound like they've added anything for the pre-K crowd.

There is a ton of info on WWOHP in the Universal Studios forum, you would be much better off looking int here than here.

The Wizarding World of Harry Potter is simply one section of the theme park. Since the books and movies really don't cater to the pre-K crowd, there really isn't a need to have attractions for them. However, there are attractions for the pre-K crowd in others areas of Islands of Adventure and also at Universal Studios.

According to another thread in the Universal boards the new ride has a min. of 48 inches.

Our local paper (newday written by beth whitehouse) had a big article about the new section. Paul Daurio who is Universal show producer for the new world states "Unlike the pixie dust in some theme parks, we will stay true to the fiction and there will be the presence of good and evil in the wizarding world".

My guess is they aren't looking to target the younger audiences, but to the older children who read the books and watch the movies. (of course to the adults that love them too)

I love the us and ioa...the dr. suess land and curious george sections are perfect for little ones.

edit: it also said the new attraction would take 30 to 60 minutes to experience. I thought that was impressive

Harry Potter is not themed towards younger children. The movies & books are for older children and that is what the themed area will more than likely be...geared toward the older kids...those who know the stories.
