Hiya

I am having two bridsemaids ages 12 + 15 is there an age you have to be to sign the wedding certificate? also best man will only be 17
my gran said i better check out - i didnt think it would be a problem thought but just to be on the safe side!

To be honest i really dont know about the ages. Thias website has some info about weddings on there, www.stateofflorida.com. Not sure if it will help!

Two of your witnesses must be of legal act to contract, which in the U.S. is 18 years of age (unless the minor is emancipated). There may be extra lines on your license that would enable you to have non-binding signatures on it as well (Kate's had room for 4 witnesses), but at least two of the signatures must come from witnesses who are of legal age. i have just ran into my first problem we are getting wed next october and it will only be us 2 and our 2 boys who will only be 15 and 11 i dindn't think of witnesses what shall i do

I'm sure Disney personnel can act as witnesses to your wedding. Won't your wedding coordinator be there, as well as someone to serve the cake, etc.? All you need is two adults who are there to sign. No worries! ~Ev

I didn't need a witness for my wedding...I thought that was a thing of the past...(man, I must be totally out of touch! )

I was told for my wedding that Florida does not require witnesses. Florida and Nevada are the only two states that are like that.

Jennifer (my coordinator) said she could sign if I wanted her to as well as the violinist. I just looked at mine. She signed it but thats it.

As always, ask your coordinator.

Hmmm, never heard of those two states not requiring witnesses, but I'm not that surprised. Both states cater to a lot of destination weddings, so it makes sense that they would streamline to increase tourism. Learn something new every day! ~Ev

Honey, I'm a Floridian, and know that in the state of Florida witnesses are not required. My DF and I were going to get officially married and then several months later have the wedding so I have my marriage license right here. It should be the same no matter what county you get it from, you will not be required to have a witness. It just needs to be notarized. Hope this helps. It may be different for out-of-state.

That's exactly right. We had my brother and my best friend "witness" but it was just a formality, it's not required by FL law at all. Your officiant will take care of getting it to the right place and making it all legal - no worries.

Ah, there's the difference. Kate and Jason weren't required to have theirs notarized, but the ceremony had to be performed by an ordained minister and witnessed by two adults. We're in Louisiana. From the posts, it sounds like Arizona and Florida are the exception to those rules. I'm glad it will work out for you! ~Ev

thanks guys - was talking it over with my DF earlier and have decided that if anything needs signed we are going to ask our mums to do it for us but thanks for your replies one less worry!
