The MLB season begins!!!

TWINS WIN!
We defeated Cleveland last night by a score of 7-4, but it took 11 innings! They had a new long turf surface in the Metrodome, and it took about 7 innings for the guys to get used to the slowness of the ball. Our new Phenom 20 year old catcher did a GREAT job! He scored the first run of the season for the Twins, walked twice, got 2 hits, and made a fantastic play at the plate. Radke had his usual slow start as a starting pitcher, but we never expect much from him in April. C.C. Sabathia pitched for the Indians, and he literally had us shut down for 7 innings. Between that and Radke giving up home runs, we were down 4-0 until the break out in the 8th that tied it. Stewart hit a game ending homer in the bottom of the 11th with Mauer and Guzman on base ahead of him.
Here's hoping their best record of all major league teams in spring training, hold for the whole season!
TWINS WIN!

Dh was there. Didn't stroll in until 1 this morning :) He is friends with the Mauers, having gone to Cretin himself. We just talked to (Big) Jake in Feb and he was/is so thrilled for Joe! He really did a wonderful job last night :) And, you gotta love Stewart!!

Dh got a foul ball tossed to him by Jacque! He was quite happy!

Joe's dad was two rows behind us. Our season tickets are in section 125, so we often get a lot of players wives and former players and VIPs in that section. It was a great game, but they seemed to have a lot of trouble with the new turf for awhile. I thought it was funny to see a little puff of sand each time the ball hit the new turf!

Baseball is back. The world is once again as it should be....:D

Diane, I'm willing to trade tickets with you anytime you'd like a different perspective. My season tickets are the upper deck GA package!

All six of us were in attendance last night. Our youngest started getting a little antsy in the 7th so we left after the Twins' 6th consecutive hitless inning. All it took was for us to leave to get the Twins on track!

Did you see the "Magic Number Guy" there last night?

No, come to think of it, I DID NOT see the magic number last night! We left after the rally in the 8th, but my health is still not super, so we decided to go home and listen to the end in the car. It still wasn't over by the time we got home! We got to see the whole 11th inning after we got home!

Obviously, you are an Indians fan, and I really have to agree with you on this one! He totally had us shut down, and he was pitching great! I assumed they took him out because he had over 110 pitches, but I often wonder why managers do that when a pitcher has such a groove going! C.C. has a way of always giving the TWINS fits!
