I've had my full licence for about six months now, and so far have had no probelms. Well...that changed today. I was not more than 45 seconds from my house, pulling out of the donut shop, and I hit a car.

Nobody was hurt (thankfully), but I was pretty shook up [and my brother was more calm than I was]. I was in my car (Olds 88) and I hit a Caviller. So comared to her, I got off with next to nothing. My right cornering light and headlight is smashed, and the bumper is dented a bit, but thats all.

Her car was not so lucky. I hit her driver's side quarter pannel, from the headlgiht to the the wheel.

The accident was my fault. I was pulling out, and the man who was blocking my entrance backed up and waved me on. I looked and started to pull out. I didn't see her when I looked, so we hit. I called mom and dad and they came. We exchanged info and everything. Now its just to see what the dammage will cost...and how much my insurance will go up.

oh im sorry to hear this. Glad nobody was hurt though!! Try not to let it upset you too bad!! Pixie dust your way :wizard:

So sorry you have to deal with this. The most important thing is that no one was hurt. In the coming months while you're dealing with insurance issues and everything else keep remembering that. My friends and parents are still reminding me of that and my accident was in October.

I can completely understand being shaken up. My accident was similar, only I was the one that got hit, while I was pulling out. I was making a left. The accident was technically my fault, but because cars were parked illegally all along the side of the road I wasn't ticketed. They were blocking my view. THe kid that hit me was going wayyy too fast too. I was leaving school. I'd had my license almost 10 months at the time. Lesson of the day: Use the other exit when leaving the school parking lot at a busy time cuz the cops in the city don't ticket those who are illegally parked.

Moral of the story, unfortunately it's happened to a lot of us. Which means a lot of us understand completely what you're dealing with right now. I have to say good luck! And loads of pixie dust that everything that goes along with this will go more smoothly than it has (and is going) for me.

Just be happy that noone was hurt. These things happen, especially to less experienced drivers. I smashed up my then BF's car (now my DH) when I was a new driver. Hit a lawyer (young public defender). She got out complaining about her back. She was fine. Threated to sue me on the spot. Told her I was an unemployed student in debt up to my ears, but my insurance company's lawyer might be interested. Funny thing, she never sued me. My lesson was never hit an underpaid lawyer.

OH I know how upsetting that can be. Ive had quite a few accidents(luckily none have been my fault), but they really do shake you up....even the minor ones. Just be thankful that everyone is ok. :D

So true, Brad, so true. Glad to hear no one was injured. And now that you have your semingly mandatory teenage car accident behind you, many safe miles ahead for you. :sunny:
