My DW and I are heading down to thw warmth of WDW in less than 2 weeks!! :cool1: I have 2 questions. First, the two of us love Artist Point (we spent our First Anniversary there and the treated us like a Queen and a King!) however we never tried WC, is it a nice place for a sit down lunch? Also, is it true the Calif. Grill is not open for lunch? Was it always like this, I seem to remember it serving lunch in the past.

Thanks!
See you by the "clown pool" in 12 days!!!! (Feb 21-25)

:wave2: hey Dave!!!!

I'm not sure what you might mean by nice place....Whispering Canyon cafe is know for there loud boisterous antics during your meal....the food is fair...but it is our favorite family restaurant every trip....

We tried having a breakfast there. They have an all-you-can-eat family style option. They bring eggs, sausage, bacon, hasbrowns and I think pancakes. It was ok, DH and I both thought Chef Mickey's was better in the all-you-can-eat category.

CG has always been dinner only.

I would eat breakfast at WCC...but that's about it. For $9.69 it is a darn good deal. It is a bit obnoxious, though. I do prefer Chef Mickey's for breakfast. That is true all you can eat. At WCC they bring out the food and you have to ask for more and sometimes it takes awhile. I mean...if I want 27 pieces of bacon I hate to be humiliated having to ask the CM over and over again! LOL! :rotfl:

WC is a good place for lunch, we like eating there then because it usually isn't as crowded and the prices are lower. It is nothing like Artist Point though. There is a lot more interaction with the servers, but if you don't want to be harassed you can ask for a quieter area.

if you want a place where you can enjoy a nice quet meal in wonderful rustic setting d not eat here!!!LOL!!

we ate here twice on our last trip and we did enjoy the food and actually enjoyed the antics. if you want a quiet or a more relaxed setting you wont find it here. dinner was fun, my son asked for the ketchup because he didnt believe what i told him would happen, they had the horse races and all in all it was fun.

to be honest i wouldnt really want to do it again unless i was staying in the WL. breakfast started out nice and quiet, only a few tables were full so a nice peaceful breakfast.... nope! my DW asked for strawberry jam for her biscuit and you know what happened!!! mucho jam. soon after that i had placed on my head a nice headdress made of napkins and straws.

just wanted to give you the lowdown on what goes on in WC. you could ask for a non-interactive waiter but you still will have to listen and see all that happens around you and it does happen. food is ok and we didnt have to wait long for refills on the all-you -can eat.

hope this helps

27 pieces of bacon!!! LOL!! my kind of breakfast

Uh OH......how obnoxious is this place? It was recommended to me by someone I talked to when making my PS arrangements and I thought we'd enjoy the food and it would be something different from the buffets at Chef Mickey's and CP (we are doing those as well). I also thought we'd enjoy taking the boat from the Contemporary over to WL to go to WC....now I'm worried - what kind of antics will we have to endure????

Thanks!

Pony races, dads singing I'm a little teapot, standing on chairs, singing, screaming waiters, bringing my dd a half a gallon jug of chocolate milk, ask for ketchup (you'll get ketchup all right), audience participation.....it is our favorite family restaurant....

This sounds like fun...I think we're going to try lunch there in December.

There are tables back toward the back, out of the main dining area that is pretty quiet. You can also mention to your server that you like to watch the action rather than be a part of it. Also, most servers are very astute at determining whether or not you want to be a big part of the action.

where is this resturaunt located? I have never heard of it. :confused3

It is in Wilderness Lodge. We ate there on our last trip and our girls that it was a hoot! They especially loved seeing their Dad with all the other Dads singing in a circle around the restaurant.
