We had to arrange our plan for Disney and as much as I wanted to do 50's PT @ HS it just wouldn't work out. So we opted for WCC. Tell me I made a good choice for me, DH, MIL, and two 5 year olds.

Are you talking nervous of the food or the shenanigans?;) I have never been but I understand the food is very good and the stuff the wait staff do is also really funny-I'm assuming as you wanted the 50s PT that you are going for the fun stuff? Somewhere there is a link of things to say (or not to say) to get a reaction from the wait staff.-anyone know where it is?

I don't know where the link is, but DH and I have eaten at WCC and loved it. We didn't have a particularly fun waiter ourselves, but there was enough going on around us that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I think you'll be happy with your choice.

You will have a great time. :thumbsup2 The atmosphere is fun. Your kids will love it. They have little stick horses that the children can ride on around the restaurant. We didn't really like the food, however I always take opinions on food with a grain of salt around here. What one person hates  another person loves. Even though we weren't a fan of the food we would go back to try again because the atmosphere is that much fun. And ask for ketchup....I dare you!!!! :rolleyes1

Thanks!! The food is what I was nervous about... I've heard mixed reviews and BBQ isn't my DH favorite. Hopefully the kids will have so much fun he won't notice.

:rotfl: You need to arrange for your DH to receive a call on his cell phone during your meal! Just trust me...it will be a riot!

You will love it!!!! Skillet is great, bottomless milkshakes to die for & the kids loved asking for the ketchup! :rotfl:

love wcc. weve eaten there 3 times in the past...food is great, the sherrif shakes to die for. yum! my two love the pony rides around the restaurant...totally agree on the cell use! cant do it to hubby....roaming on candian phones is astonomical! make sure when you hear someone say howdy you say it back....loudly!

Unfortunately, I'm in the minority here and did not like WCC at all and we won't be going back (unless we try breakfast). The service was awful and the food not much better (greasy, fatty, etc.). However, I am one who believes everyone should try something once as we all have different tastes (for instance, Mama Melrose gets ripped on pretty good here and we have never had a bad meal there).

I've been to WCC twice, and loved it! I like it better for dinner than lunch though, because the lunch menu is a little limited! And it's definitely a fun place to bring kids, they have lots of fun little activities and games for them...make sure to ask for some ketchup! :thumbsup2

We went to Whispering Canyon Café for the first time in April and absolutely loved not only the food but also the entertaining staff :lmao:

We have been there 4 times and all were great but one. The one that was not so good was when we were in a back room and seperated from all the fun. So if they put you in there, tell them you want to wait for a table in the main room. It was not nearly as fun!

I think you will enjoy WCC more than 50's PT. As for mixed reviews, that is so true with just about any WDW restaurant. As for your husband not liking BBQ; they do have a very good ribeye steak on the menu. While I do enjoy BBQ I did order the ribeye once and was very surprised. As for the kids; they are going to have a great time..... Oh and as others have said, the bottomless shakes are a must do and count as a beverage on the ddp. :thumbsup2

It's worth going to alone just to see the Wilderness Lodge itself.

We had a very good meal there last summer when we were on the Dining Plan. I got the skillet and others in my party got the rib-eye steak. Everyone enjoyed their meals.

If you're on the DDP, they allow you to get the bottomless milkshake as your soft drink. The kids in our group loved those. :goodvibes:

We were there when our son was 6 yrs old and we loved it. He had a blast riding the stick pony around the restaurant. The food is good and they have a nice variety to choose from. There is a big lego table in the waiting area to entertain the kids while you wait for your table and my son thought that was cool.

I have to share my story of this restaurant. It was my first vacation alone to Disney and I booked WCC because I was on the dining plan and I wanted to see the Lodge.

I had to wait to be seated, and, while waiting, I realized what the restaurant did as far as entertainment. However, the waitstaff, thinking I wanted a quiet dinner, put me in the back next to a romantic fireplace (not so romantic by myself). I quickly asked to be moved up front with all the families. After being moved, I orded and received the prime rib, which was very good. Somewhere near dessert, I called my cousin to fill her in on what I had done for the day. Well, this was a mistake, because my waitress started yelling to the whole restaurant, hey, keep it down, can't you see she's on the phone. So, she then asks whom I am speaking with, to which I answered, "Amy." So she then has the entire restaurant say, "Hello Amy." My cousin was hysterical on the phone and has made me promise the next time she goes to Disney with me that I will take her there.

So there you have it, I think you should go. And, if you, by chance go during Christmas, you get a chance to see the Lodge decorated beautifully.

Enjoy!

We love Whispering Canyon! Our last trip was just adults and we thought the food was very good. We liked the fun things that go on there too. Most of us got the skilet and it was yummy. My sister had a pork chop and she couldn't get enough of it. The s'mores cheesecake was super good too.

Love wcc. My adult party of four got seated by the romantic fireplace and had just as much fun. I think we got a kick out of the kids at the other tables.

The salad that came with the big skillet was excellent. We thought the salad was to share but we each got one. Be ready for a lot of food. I'm picky about my BBQ and it was good.

I know there is a list of funny things that may happen to you if you search on it. Not a garauntee that they will. I once got the extra extra extra large soda. Lots of straws thrown at us.
