I stayed at the Wilderness Lodge Villas... a dedicated studio directly opposite from the dumpster room I guess... Other than the looooooooong hike from the elevator (because this is as far as you can get) the room was great...very quiet with a view of the Electric Boat parade through the trees. However I spent the last two days in a FW cabin. Very cool!!! They should make these DVC. I guess the problem is that they would need to literally be twice the size of the existing cabins...but since the cabins seem to be little more than trailers replacing them gradually with two bedroom lockoff units wouldn't be difficult.

PS.. Forgot to add this is my second stay at VWL and I'm quite happy its my home. The only thing I'd change is that I'd make the pool zero entry.

I agree with a zero entrance pool, that's why I like AKL so much! For those of us with bad knees, it makes things so much easier! :teeth:

I think our best family stays were at the Ft. Wilderness cabins. We were there with our kids in the '80s. Ft. Wilderness is what defines the Disney Experience for me, we used to go to the nightly campfire. They had a canoe event to Marshmallow Marsh.

However, DH doesn't agree that that's the best way to do WDW, I think our sons are divided. I'm pleased as punch with all of the DVC accomodations we've had, and if they were to have something at the campgrounds, I know we would give it a try.

My DW would love it if they did a FW DVC she would be all over the points for that one. That is the first place they ever stayed when they started to go back in the 80's. We take our kids to teh campfire atleast once every trip and get the smores for them to make. I am not a big fan of the place but my wife loves it must be because it was the very first place they ever stayed on property.
