Hi all. I've been secretly compiling tips from your own weddings to help me stand my ground against the somewhat odd and strict rules that Disney Weddings seem to hold up to standard. I have a problem and I decided to come out of the shadows and see if anyone can help.

I got engaged in 2010 and decided on Feb 2012 because of work commitments but no actual date. Visited Francks and started setting out for a WP ceremony and Tamu Tamu reception. But, of course, it was too early and we had to wait.

Now I was just told that because a Gathering is being held on the proposed date this year, we can go ahead with scheduling but may be pushed even as late as a month 'til wedding date and may end up in a hall instead. To be honest, that's just not my cup of tea because, for that money (as you know) I can have a very extravagant hall wedding here in NYC instead. I'd hate to go through the planning for an Animal Kingdom reception and then end up somewhere else.

I'm very reluctant to book now and have even considering chatting with Disneyland to see what their options are. I think it's pretty ridiculous that we could be pushed out for an event that could possibly happen but I've been told to expect this from Disney Weddings.

Has anyone come across this? Circumvented? Any thoughts are appreciated!

I'm wondering why the back up for tamu tamu would be a reception hall at a resort. Usually, it is a different venue in the theme park like tusker house, pizzafari, or flame tree gardens. Are they trying to book the whole park out for the other event? Could you put a hold on a space in a different park like epcot? You're able to sign your LOA for any space 12 months before your date.

We ran up against the same thing. I said no way was I going to possibly change locations a month out. Our solution was to change our date by one day to avoid any possible conflict. :thumbsup2

Thanks so much for your replies! I'm so glad to hear thoughts from people not wretched with anxiety (like myself). What a difference a clear head makes.

Having a backup within the same park was never presented as an option. I'll bring that up on my follow-up call.

Also, I did suggest a day before and was told we'd "probably run into the same exact problem." I thought February was a slow month? It's almost like they don't want our business at all!
