Wishes or Illuminations, what's your vote?

We have decided to only try to see one fireworks show, so I will trust all you Disney veterans to tell us which is best and why!

To me a trip to WDW just isn't the same without wishes. I love the show, the story that it tells is great, and its hosted by Jiminy.

Illuminations is what made me a disney freak. It's powerful the first time you see it.

Wishes is incredible, but I think it means more to those who are really into the disney movies. Not so much for me.

So if I had to pick one, it would be Illuminations.

I regard Illuminations as the more impressive of the two. The music, special effects, and setting are spectacular. Wishes is good too and the fireworks over the Castle is such an iconic image.

Illuminations - The music is powerful and moving, the sentiment is beautiful, and the scope is all-encompassing.

Plus you can get a margarita and some nachos while you wait.

Wishes! is quite good, but Illuminations is a cut above!

DH and I would take wishes any day!!! It even made him tear up.

They're both great -- wishes has more "flowery" aerials, and illuminations more types of other effects. It kind of feels like Illum lasts a little longer, but some of that may be that I'm not too excited about the whole TV globe thing. But at Epcot you can have a beer while you watch, and at MK you have what can be a dreadful exit from the park experience after the show (depending on time of year and how tired you are, and whether you drive or take the bus). I like them both much more than Fantasmic, if that ever comes up. I'd probably give the edge to Illuminations, based on other factors than the fireworks (the MK fireworks have the edge). Try to see both, if there's any possible way (but I'm kind of a fireworks fanatic).

No question! It's just so impressive, especially during the Christmas season when there is a *special* expanded version.
Love listening to the Illuminations CD in my car too

as for me I love them both but Wishes moves me more than Illuminations

I like the IllumiNations soundtrack, but the Wishes show...how's that for neutrality??? I don't like the...how was it put?...TV screen effect of IllumiNations so much, but the rest of the show is quite beautiful. I get a bigger thrill from the Disney magic of Wishes, and I swear THIS year I'm going to see them from a proper vantage point (NOT from CG)!

For my wife and I, it's Wishes! hands down. Illuminations has more shells, but a LOT more downtime with nothing going on. Wishes! is an all out tour de force through the Disney catalog of movies.
