Just had a question that may seem dumb to some of you veterans but I was wondering if the park closes at 700 why does Wishes start at 700??

Not exactly sure why that is but you will be amazed at the number of people that stay for the fireworks. I like the earlier times. I am not a late night person.

How long does it last? Don't they get you out of the park as soon as it closes??

They don't "chase" you out until after fireworks and even then they allow you time. It is about 15 mins of fireworks. We usually hang back and wait for the crowds to thin out before we attempt to get out of the park. They do close the rides after the fireworks but some of the shops would still be open.

Safetymom, Just wanted to say thanks for all the great info you post. I have been looking around alot lately as we are planning a small trip next month and you always seem to have all the answers. Just wanted to say thanks.

PS we are staying at the Carribean Beach Resort and your links have been very useful.

I am a newbie but want this trip to be special for my two little girls.

Glad I could help. You will have a great time. The first time I went I didn't know a lot about WDW and we still had a great time. The look on my kids faces was priceless.

We watched Wishes on evening in December. Park close time and Wishes were the same. It was crazy, nuts, a mad-house to get out. We finally decided to just sit back and wait. I have been to Disney so many times, but never experienced that. Usually the fireworks are before park closing, so people can watch fireworks and then leave if they want and some choose to stay. Kind of evened things out a bit better.

If it's a mad house leaving MK after Wishes, which it was on my last visit...instead of waiting in line to get back to your resort...I suggest making a stop at the Milestones of Animation Theatre in Main Street (on your left hand side as your leaving the park)
There is a small theatre in the back that shows cartoons non-stop all day. There is plenty of room to stretch out, it's usually quiet, and they don't shoo you out.
We sat in there for 45 mintues last August, and it was still a Nutt House when we came out. Next time, we'll stay even longer!
