Do the wishes and/or illuminations shows have the loud booms associated with fireworks? I'm concerned that would scare my daughters, 3 3/4 and 15 months. If they do any recommendations of locations to watch these without noise? We will be staying at WL and I understand we can see the wishes from the dock there. If there are better views without the noise I'd love to know them. THANKS!!! :flower1:

I can definately tell you that Illuminations is loud. We stayed at BCV in December and every time Illuminations was on we would hear it in our villa. We had all the doors closed and heard the booms through the windows. The finale actually shook our room a few times! I think it was a special Christmas finale so I'm not sure if it's that booming all the time.

Wishes is loud too. Both shows have huge fireworks so they are very loud. If your kids are easily startled by loud noise, they may not like it. Both my kids loved them. DD was 7 months and got scared at first after the first firework went off during Wishes. As soon as she saw them she was amazed. I think the music and the fireworks themselves distract the kids from the noise.

Yes, they are loud.

My daughter slept through Wishes, though, and we were on Main Street :earseek:

Anyway, many people watch from the beach at the Polynesian. I haven't done it, but imagine it would be quieter. You could also, go to Ohana, at the Poly, and hope for a window table. We have done that. I'm not sure if they still pipe in the music or not. Even if they don't the fireworks are very very good, and the food too

No sure of a quieter spot for illuminations. We've only watched it from the Rose and Crown pub.

Have a great trip, and welcome to the DIS :flower1: :flower1:

Hi, I have a noise sensitive almost 5yo DS, but he's seen all the fireworks several times (except Fantasmic).

You can see the fireworks from Illuminations, but not the music or lower level laser show, from the bridge between Boardwalk and Beach/Yacht Club. It's fun to walk around the Boardwalk, see the performers and grab dessert, a good distraction for the small ones before the show's on.

Also, my son has learned to wear hearing protection, the big ear muff type that adults in loud work evironments use. He now carries them with him on our trips, wears them on the planes and even for the parades or shows if he thinks they're too loud. I don't know if your child might consider doing this. They can still hear most of what's going on, it just muffles it enough to be tolerable. When he was little, since we usually went in the Fall, we'd be sure he wore a thick sweatshirt with a hood, and put it on for the loud parts, with our hands over the sweatshirt and covering his ears. That seemed to help too. Of course, nestling in Mom's or Dad's lap goes a long way.

Whatever you do, have fun!

Skiptimypooh - Where did you get the earmuffs?

My kids don't like loud noise - they hated the 3D movies when we went two years ago. We watched Wishes from our room at WL - we had a woods view which was awesome. This time we're going to watch from O'Hana where they pipe in the music. We would like to try Fantasmic or Illuminations but I was worried about the noise. I'd like to try the earmuff idea.

My 4 year old hates loud noise, and really hates both Illuminations and Wishes.

On our most recent trip (September), we skipped Illuminations, but we did watch Wishes from the boat dock at the Polynesian. He was okay with it, and if you stay near the pool area, you can hear the music (they don't pipe it in at the very end of the boat dock, or on the remote beach areas).
