Wishes Dessert Party

Essentially the Dessert Party is a paid fireworks viewing accompanied by a dessert buffet, located at Tomorrowland Terrace. We did it on our most recent 2014 trip.

While it was a nice little experience, it's probably something I would do not again. At least, not within the next 15 years. We got in line an hour early (which I highly recommend doing if you book it) so we were one of the first to be seated. We went to the buffet right away to grab our treats, and only just 10 minutes after us a bunch of people arrived and got in line as well. They do run out of desserts and they run out fairly quickly. People did not take things in moderation and I saw some people with two, three plates, and these were not people who were selecting for young children, either.

The view of the castle is okay. You can see all the fireworks just fine, but there's a giant tree in the way and you can't really see the Castle Show. People do go up to the balcony but this was no huge issue, there was plenty of room for everyone to stand up there. Some people did remain at their tables as well.

Overall while it was a fun experience, I didn't find it worth it. It just isn't the same as watching Wishes from Main Street, and yes, waiting forever to get good seats can be a huge hassle, but to me it's all part of the Disney experience and it isn't Disney without Wishes. I kinda felt jipped out of Wishes, actually. It just wasn't the same. The desserts themselves were fine, they had a good selection. But they did run out and while they did refill it, you really only have a good half hour to nosh on your desserts before you have to find a spot at the balcony to watch.

We've done it several times and we will continue to do it on our longer trips so long as we have to continue going during peak times--I'm a teacher. We're also 40 and no kids. I refuse to go and sit on a curb 2 hours before only to have someone shove their kids in front of me or kick me in the back repeatedly. I'm too old for that. So we go to the dessert party.

Is the view as good as watching it from where Robo indicates is the best place for seeing Wishes? No, but, IMO, it's pretty darn good. Plus, Tinker Bell flies right over where you sit for this experience.

We have enjoyed the desserts each time we've done this and were always able to easily get seconds (or thirds) if we wanted them.

I highly recommend this if you want a less stressful way of viewing Wishes. You can still hear the music and see all the fireworks. We will continue to try to do this so long as we take longer trips.

What does it entail, and do you think it was worth it?
Thanks

I only regret that I didn't know the reservation system for this had changed to 180 days, so I missed getting one for my upcoming trip. My family did this a year ago and loved it. Your table is reserved so no real need to be in line for an hour before they open. We saw all desserts replenished all evening, and like a PP said, its not the ideal rated place to see Wishes, but the fact I got to sit until 10 minutes before the castles show with a nice cup of coffee and sweets and fruit, AND didn't have anyone shove in front of me last minute, it was well worth it. The view was very good anyway.

Learned about this well after we made our ADRs. I keep trying in the hope a cancelation happens during our week there. And, you never know, maybe someone will cancel at the last minute.

I've done it twice. The first time was really great. The weather was nice, and we had a table where we didn't even need to get up to view the fireworks. The second time was cold and rainy. Even though the tables are under an open-air roof, they still got wet, and had to be pushed back, so the tables were crammed together. If we hadn't already paid for the dessert buffet, we never would have stayed around that night because we were cold and uncomfortable...and this was in May!
So, bottom line...it might be great, and it might not.

juliebug1997, i totally agree! i have a few years on you and will be traveling alone;so, this is also a safety issue for me. (yes, i was married to the safety guy for 37 years!) thanks for the review!
