I was able to secure reservations at this late date for a saturday in August. I think this will be a lot of fun. But I do believe it is a budget buster.

I have read that there is always plenty of food. Would it be too tacky if we plan to take some home with us (I would make sure we either bring baggies or something to place them in). I was thinking bringing home cookies, brownies type of foods?

Thanks. (Starting to second guess this event).

We had a wonderful time at our Dessert Party and ate our fill of wonderful desserts. I can highly recommend it.

I do have a question: why would taking desserts with you make it more cost effective? It's not like they're real meals or anything. There are lots of other families there who paid just as much a person as you did who would like to eat the desserts too. That having been said, I don't know that a CM would say anything to you about this. However, I don't know the true answer to that.

Lastly, WDW will always be there and you can always come back and do the party then. We don't do the same special treats every time because then they wouldn't be special. We'll try different things on our next trip. If the cost of the party is a vacation buster, then I would call back and cancel it.

We are not heavy eaters. And I have heard they always have plenty left over as well. I just thought if we had some on our plates - it would be ok to take a few cookies and brownies with us to enjoy the next day.

Our dessert party will be at 9pm, and I know eating that late, especially desserts may not settle well for our stomaches.

We want the experience = sounds like a nice treat for our family. But again, I can not see us eating too much at the time of night.

I hope this makes sense.

It does, but many before me have said that the real focus isn't the food, it's the seat that you have for a private viewing area. I don't think that Disney felt they could charge that much and not give some little nibbles in return.

The desserts were good but I think the only thing you could easily pack away without a whole lot of mess would be the chocolate chip cookies. I think that might have been the only kind that they had. Everything else had a little whipped cream or topping on it.

I agree that it would probably be a bit tricky to take any of the desserts with you. There were many that are in little serving cups (like creme brulee and mango shooters when I was there) and I think the tarts would get messy.

I definitely think that part of the price tag are the desserts (as apposed to just paying for the seating/view), because they're much more than just cookies and brownies, so to get your moneys worth I would say skip dessert with dinner and save room for the party. It really is worth it as they have a great selection of unique and tasty things to snack on!

Yes. Piling desserts into baggies to take home with you rates right up there with stuffing your purse with food from the buffet table at CP! It's wrong (not to mention messy and possibly a health hazard). By all means eat what you like from the desserts provided. Then stop. Like you would at any buffet.

You have a lot of reasons as to why this dessert party wont work for your family - not big eaters, don't like eating late.... Well thats what the dessert party is - if it doesn't work for you, then you shouldn't do it. I can't understand wanting to just take stuff home - if everyone did that, there would be nothing left for others, and the prices would get hiked way up!

As far as my opinion, yes, I think going in there with bags and filling them with cake and cookies to take home is kinda tacky. I guess it might work best to consider the cost part of having the experience and getting the fireworks view, not just for the food. You did mention right off that you didn't sign up because of the food.

Nothing wrong with thinking it's too expensive, as a good fireworks view can be had elsewhere in the park at no extra cost. Best view is probably on Main Street right between Casey's and the ice cream shop.

Thanks for all the advise. As much as I would not mind having a cookie or brownie the next day to enjoy, I will have to look at the real reason for attending this event.

I believe I can cancel for a full refund 2 days prior to the event - this gives me time to discuss with the family if they want to do this or some other "event". Right now they do not know about my special treat for them.

There is something to be said for the private viewing area and not dealing with crowds on a saturday night. My thoughts is to make sure we save plenty of room for dessert and eat a very light dinner.

But in the end, what does everyone want to do? I will leave it up to my family.

To be honest when I made the reservations less than a week ago for 8/13, I did not think I would ever get in - so part of this was WOW i got reservations I never thought I would get.

Thanks again for your honest and candid thoughts.

I did take one cookie that my ds had taken and then fell asleep before eating. I wrapped it in his napkin and put it in my bag. He did take it to eat and it would have been thrown out otherwise. I think taking a cookie is fine - brining bags and filling them is a bit much.

To go with what edisney said they actually have to throw away whatever is not eating at the end of the night due to health codes.

Yea, I think the end of the night if everything isn't gone, you should take some back with you to your resort.

Not speaking to the "should" or "shouldn't" Just a heads up that you shouldn't count on having items leftover to take to your room. Many recent reports of the dessert party say that items aren't replenished and it's hard for some people to get 'firsts'.

That was our experience when we went. We felt for what we received for the money, it wasn't worth it. Could be we were used to the buffets on the cruise ship, and this doesn't compare in our minds. WE were a little disappointed, felt we have had better views of the fireworks in other areas of the park. But that's just us.
