Wishes Dessert Party and EVC

I just finished reading an earlier thread on the Dessert party but didn't see this addressed. Hoping someone can answer it here or if i should be moved to the Disabilities board. I just made reservations for 2/2 and 2/4 both times noting wheelchair access.

I know seating is assigned so I'm trying to figure out if they 1. allow the ECV in since it's technically not a wheelchair and 2. is wheelchair seeting grouped together or are tables assigned randomly?

I'm trying to get a handle on viewing and what we need to anticipate to make it good time for my husband.

Also, my 2/2 reservation is 7:10 and my 2/4 is 7:15. I'm correct in thinking once you are seated you stay thru Wishes right? WHy the two different times then?

Yes, any mobility assistance device allowed in the park is allowed in the Wishes Dessert Party facility.

The reason for the staggered reservation times is so everybody isn't waiting at 6:55 and the seating staff isn't overwhelmed.

Don't know about the actual seating, but I would think it's random. You can call back and let them know you'll be using an ECV, but I don't know how they assign tables or if that will have any effect.

Thanks so much for clarifying for me. My DD10 can't wait for this. She wanted to do it on our May10 trip but I couldn't get a reservation.

My aunt and I just attended the wishes dessert party and she was in an ECV. I believe I told them when we made the reservations. We got in line at the time they told us to be there and they took us to our table that was already assigned as it had a little card on it with our name waiting for us. I'm not sure if it was because we had an ECV or that we booked it as soon as we were able to, but we had a seat that was right up by the railing and they had her park her ECV at the railing and we sat at our table. There was a lot of room around us probably in case you need to stay in your ECV or wheelchair. She got up and sat in her chair when the fireworks started and we had a perfect view of Wishes. It was so much better than standing in the crowds of people with her in the ECV, that would have been terrible trying to get out of there after the fireworks. This was well worth it for that reason alone. There were plenty of desserts to pick from and you could have as much as you wanted and there were drinks available as well. I don't know that I would do the dessert party just for the desserts, but it certainly was worth it for not having to fights the crowds of people while someone in your party is in an ECV! We stayed and waited right there for the crowds to clear before we even headed out of the restaurant.

We just did this in November with my mom on an ECV. The tables are all "patio style" with four chairs so the tables can be moved to make room if necessary. We hadn't made mention of the evc since Mom didn't need to stay in it. The seating is assigned and as the CM was leading us to the table we asked where we should leave the evc and she let us put it right up against the rail and while she told us we weren't allowed to take our chairs up to the rail for the fireworks having the chair there might prevent other people from standing directly in front of us so Mom would have a better chance of a clear view without having to stand at the rail herself. It worked, though we did have to shoo a few small kids who were climbing on it but that's a nono anyway. Had we not parked it at the rail there was certainly enough room at the table, or the end of the seating area for it. It would have been no problem either way.

Mom could have taken her evc around the food stations too as there was lots of room but that would have been a little awkward so she just walked it.

In all cases with the evc Mom was treated with the upmost of respect and they never left her thinking "now how am I going to do this"; they seemed to anticipate her needs and accommodated them. It was the first time my mom had ever used a scooter (I had pretty much insisted) and I think she'd agree that instead of feeling like she was inconveniencing anyone castmembers made her feel special.

Don't worry about the evc anywhere....it's not only the "happiest place on earth", it's also the "most accessible place on earth"!

Wow! This is exactly what I wanted to know. Thanks so much. Since I just booked it with a short window I'm going to assume we won't be near the railing. BUt as long as the view is good we'll be fine.

Thanks so much for all the info. I agree WDW makes using the ECV a good experience. My DH has used it on all our trips (granted I TOLD him he was using it the 1st time ) and now he wouldn't dream of going without it. He can stand and walk for short distances but no way could he manage MK or the other parks without it. Staying out of the crowds was my main reason for doing the party anyway. DH loves fireworks and DD loves dessert so it will work out fine. Me, I'll be in MK so I'll be happy.
