Just a short note while the rest of the gang are showering. We just spent the last 2 hours at the pool. It is wonderfully warm and we are tired. We spent NY Eve at Disney. We were at the Grand Floridian at midnight for the ballon drop and then went outside to watch the fireworks from Magic Kingdom. We could also see the fireworks from Epcot. The hotels also had a short show which was right in your face. It was amazing. The Electric Water Parade was also terrific.

The drive down was interesting. Several "incidents" which resulted in major traffic delays. Also it poured rain in NC on Wednesday night and we stopped earlier than planned. We still arrived on time. The traffic on I 4 here in Orlando is the worst.

Tomorrow we plan on Blizzard Beach since it is suppose to be really warm. Can't trust the January weather so use it when you can.

We are at the Comfort Suites Maingate and the room is spotless, service excellent and Canadians are well represented. New Brunswick, Quebec, Ontario, Manitoba, and Alberta are all here.

Sounds like a good start. Enjoy the rest of your trip.

Can you explain more about the balloon drop at the GF? We're at WDW next NYE and I've been reading that the parks are sooooo crowded so I'm looking for other options for a group of 10 of us. Thanks!

We only took the monorail over to the GF to see the Gingerbread House around 10:30. The parks were crowded. When we arrived at the GF there was a band playing in the lobby and we stopped to listen. We also walked around outside to see the grounds and check out a spot to see the fireworks. There were a lot of people on the beach and in the lobby that were not guests at the GF. We could see the balloons tied up and when midnight came they dropped them. Everyone then rushed outside to see the fireworks. They had a small display right outside the hotel and then we watched the MK ones. We took the monorail back to the TTC and were out of the parking lot in minutes. Great NYE and would do it again.

Unfortunately today DD is sick. Vomitting and diareahea, headache dizzy etc. Spent the day mainly in the room. It is 80F outside and sunny. She looks horrible and feels ;probably worse. Hoping for a better day tomorrow.
