Wish Trippers...Unite!! Volume One

After spending almost all day reading on here yesterday I decided to call my coordinator for the first time. No reservations have been made yet but we have a date ------ Feb 8th!!!!! Yay. Now what do I do to get everyone psyched from now till then??

   Yay for dates! And yay because I will be there February 7-16! Lots of Disboutiquers will be there around then. We're having a "meet" on the 8th. That is supposed to be a less crowded time up until the 14th when it gets busier for President's Day.

Well I hope all of y'all leave lot's of Pixie Dust for us. We will miss y'all by just a couple of weeks. :thumbsup2

I talked to the wish granter today
We decided to change dates since we they are just starting to look for dates. We asked to leave around Feb 14 is that a dumb time to go we can't do the weekend before since we have plans but could leave in the middle of the week

plus they emailed asking if Grandma is a licensed PCA?
she has a PCA# from the state but didn't go to classes?
does that mean she may really be able to go with us I am so excited we need the help with the troops:rolleyes1

I think that's around President's day. Might be a we bit busy. I'd check the unoffical guide. We went at the end of Jan/beg of feb (non wish trip) and it was fab. Know that when you go during off peak (ie when kids are in school) it will always be better than summer or major holidays!) :)

Makes sure you check to see when cheerleader finals are (I think they're at the end of Jan/beg of feb??) too! Oh and is Mardi Gras early or late this year?

Good luck with getting Gma to go!!!! :goodvibes

I am official PCA...but not licensed? Not sure what the difference is? I guess it varies from state to state? But in our state, you have to be approved by the Division of Medicaid? but you don't have to be licensed?

I hope that they will let her go!!!! :)

Aw man...those dates are the busiest in Feb. Crowd scores of 8 out of 10 for three of your park days...? It won't really matter...because you don't have to wait in lines for rides...but if you don't like crowds...I would go later in Feb?? Up to you guys, of course!! :)

cool I sent her PCA # to them hopefully that will be good enough

so what week would you go?
we could leave anytime after the 8th we don't really care about pulling them out of school so that isn't a problem

You guys have been so sweet to "walk" with Lauren's family through our Wish trip and all of that. I have enjoyed getting to know all of you guys! :)

I have another prayer request...

First of all...everyone is feeling better. Lauren is finally caught up with school from her trip...William is feeling much better. Lisa was just saying the other day that things are finally calming down for them. I have known them for almost 2 years and there is ALWAYS something...

So...well...there is something else...

Rick, Lauren's dad, has torn his rotator cuff in his shoulder. This is going to require surgery and it is scheduled for THIS Thursday! The major problem, though, is that he can't lift Lauren for TWO MONTHS...So...all of the lifting, transferring, etc that Rick does...well, someone is going to have to step in and help. The grandparents are all getting sort of "old" to lift her...she is 65-70 pounds. So...they are going to need lots of help.

Anyway...obviously you guys can't come and "help"...but please pray for us! :)

:) mary

Wow...THOSE prayers were answered...FAST!!!

Actually, it was not the answer I was looking for...but it will do.

William has a staph infection. Nothing too serious...he is at home on antibiotics...BUT...that means Rick can't have his surgery on Thursday. There are other issues (like we might get SNOW! :woohoo: and we have no coverage for helpers yet). SO...it looks like he will probably have it after the holidays...

we will still need help...but at least we have time to get it together! :)

Yay!! I'll be there from Feb 3-10 (and like jham said, lots of other disboutiquers will be, too)! Maybe we'll run into each other somewhere. I'll be sporting many lime green mickey heads!

You should start a pre-trip report! I hear the Big Givers really like Pre-trip reports! :thumbsup2

Help!! I'm obsessing about dates here!! We finally got all our passports, so now I can call our wish foundation and give them our dates. But I JUST CAN'T DECIDE!! First question is, do we have to go from a weekend to a weekend, or can we pick any day to leave?? Do people arrive at GKTW on weekdays?? My obsessive planning nature has me checking out the flight schedules on the airline our foundation uses, and if we go from a tuesday to a tuesday, we'd be able to take flights that would get us there by early afternoon (rather than other days, where we'd only get in late in eve).

So if we can leave on a tuesday, here are my potential dates:

January 27 - Feb 3
We can't go the next week in Feb, and the week after that is president's day which I've heard to avoid, or would it matter much with the perks we get??
Feb 24 - March 3
March 3-10

Any takes on which order of prefence I should put these in? I don't even know if we could still get in for the Jan. one or not. I won't be making any ADRs as Noah doesn't eat anything orally, and so we will just be doing quick counter service/snacks during the days. So I don't need to worry about that.

Our foundation is including one ADR, which is a meal at the Crystal Palace, as my son's wish is to meet Tigger. It's too bad Noah won't be eating, but I think he'll enjoy all the interaction. Should I request breakfast or lunch here??

So many things to think about...Time to start a pretrip report soon!!

Oh, some more dates that work: Feb 9-16. This would have us there most of the week before presidents weekend, and we'd be leaving on the actual holiday monday. Those dates would actually work the best, since our kids have 2 days off school in there. But how would that Sat/Sun be at the parks?? How is universal/seaworld those days??

Feb 9th-13th are great for crowd levels. But, the 14-16 are pretty crowded.

I just read your other post and January 27- Feb 3, February 24- March 3, and March 3-10 have historically low crowd levels, too. Those are probably your best bets if you want to avoid crowds. I wouldn't go for the January dates because that doesn't give you much time to plan!

I totally agree with HeatherSue! Those dates sound great...although I would avoid the middle Feb dates. :)

Sounds like you guys are going to have a blast! I am not sure about Crystal Palace...I guess it would depend on what you guys want to eat? and what time of day you want to "stop" and eat.

I am excited for you guys.

You can check in at any time...I would just make sure you there over a Thursday night (because that is the cool Christmas party night)...:) Other than that, you are good to go. I think the early flight is a great idea! :)

We were in Orlando over President's Day in 2007. We had just returned from a Disney cruise and decided to stay an extra couple of days because the kids had school off. We decided not to do Disney because we only had 2 days and I really wanted to come back and do a "real" Disneyworld trip and didn't want DH to be able to say "we were just there!" (It worked) but we spent the 2 days at Universal and it really did not seem crowded at all. We stayed "on-site" so we had that fast-pass type feature they have which really helped. I'm guessing it would be similar to you MAW benefits. We WILL be there this year from the 7-16th and I am expecting big crowds at the end of our trip, but hey, they'll be big happy Disney crowds! :lmao: :cool1:
