Wish Trippers...Unite!! Volume One

Make a Wish provided an Explorer for us, which has a large tank. We drove from the Airport to GKTW, to Sea World and back, to Wal-Mart and back, to Magic Kingdom and back, to Animal Kingdom and Back, to Universal and back, to Epcot and back, then to the airport. Wow, we did have fun didn't we?

We visited only one gas station, on the way to the airport.

In the Bunny Book that you get at check-in (or was it at orientation??) it tells you where the rooms are that you can use. When exaactly is your trip again???? I forget. :headache: :rotfl: :goodvibes

You get the Bunny Book at check in. That thing saved us on more than one occasion!

i have a question. How many times did you have to fill up the gas tank when traveling back and forth from GKTW and parks?

We only filled up once and that was on the way to the airport. We had a minivan.

We may be at DL when you are at WDW. Are you extending your trip? We were told by Make a Wish that we could not extend ours due to a policy they put in place. Apparently, some folks on wish trips had extended their stays then left Make a Wish with the bill for it.

I am so excited for you that you have your dates set for the trip.

I have been circling the DISabilities and Pre-Trip Report Boards like a shark, :surfweb: looking for unsuspecting Wish Trip Families :wizard: who are new to the boards, so that I can foist my help upon them. This has not been very effective. :badpc:

So, I am recruiting spies to help me. :cool2: If you would like to be an official WDW Wish Trip Spy (sorry no decoder rings are included at this time) all you have to do is send me a message when you spot a new Wish Trip family anywhere on the boards. Then I will swoop down and steer them to this post and offer the help of all of us here at WISH TRIPPERS UNITE!

If this sounds like a strangely obsessive idea, good, that proves that you are still mentally healthy, and have not succumbed to DISboard-Wish Trip Advice Syndrome. :rolleyes1

For those who thinks this sounds like a swell idea, welcome to the ranks of WDW Wish Trip Spies (you may also want to seek therapy.... save yourself.. it is too late for me). :cool1:

Thanks y'all

I have actually been feeling pretty sick for a while now that I didn't ask about trip extensions back before our flights were booked. I don't know what our local MAW chapter's policy is, but I do know that we were told when we confirmed our GKTW dates that the flights could not be changed except in case of medical emergencies. Now that I'm trying to plan our trip out and am realizing how hard it'll be to make it to all the parks in just five full days, I am just sick that I didn't at least ask about extending our trip for a few days. However, I am thinking it would be a pain to have to deal with switching rent cars and housing...and would the extra two or three days really make all that much difference or be worth the trouble and expense? Another part of me just wants to be satisfied with the simple wish experience for what it is in all its amazing entirety. Surely we will be exhausted by the end of one week. Can anyone make me feel better about not extending our trip? Please??

I'll try! I only wanted to extend because my bank offers one free trip a year,
for carrying club premium accounts, and it just so happens it covers the hotel we wanted try. The trip is awesome in its self but if I dont
schedule downtime for DH41 He will go right back to work without a day to
get back into his groove!
You will be fine if you don't extend... you can go back for however long you want some other time. Wish trips are for wish kids. Let them run the show this round.party: and you will be so glad that you did!

Hello everyone, I am new here::yes:: But have been reading this forum for the last couple of days, My 6 year old son who has leukemia got his wish to go to disneyworld, we are going july 23-29.. We are not able to stay a GKTW because they are booked, so was wondering if anyone has ever went and stayed off sit and if you did where did you stay? Any other tips for us would be greatly appreciated too:) Thanks

Updated first page. Sorry don't have time to chat. Please let me know if there are any corrections. I don't have internet anymore so I'm using the library when I have a minute.

Thank you for saying that! Actually, the Nickelodeon Hotel is exactly where we would choose to stay if we did extend. That was my son's original wish..."to stay in the Nickelodeon Hotel and go to Disney World", but he loves and wants/hopes to meet Spiderman, Goofy, Mickey Mouse and SpongeBob, so the Wish Granter explained that with GKTW we will get the tickets to Universal Studios AND Disney--hence, the more complete package. So his wish ended up veering in a slightly different direction. Also, although the Nick Hotel looks like tons of fun, we can go there any time, but GKTW is a "once in a lifetime" opportunity!! Part of what makes me sad, though, is that we could possibly have added on a few days at Nick Hotel at the end since that was, after all, his original wish. :sad1: He is SO easy to please, though, that I don't think he'll think twice about the Nick Hotel once we're there.

And won't we be exhausted by the end of the week??
