Hey! Here's how to put your trip report in your signature.
1. Copy the URL of your PTR to your clipboard (I always do this through right-clicking > COPY.)
2. "Edit your Signature" (to your left under "User CP").
3. Type out the name of your PTR, then highlight it.
4. Click on the blue globe icon with the two chain links, found just above the text you are typing. Erase the http:// and paste your URL there.
5. Preview or Save.

I'm glad you had such a great time and we're gonna miss you seeing you there in nov, by a week so hopefully we can get to see you @ DHS

Aw man -- well I'm always working at Studios on Tuesdays and Wednesdays. As it gets closer to your trip, I'll know specifics (day/evening) -- and I sometimes take weekend shifts, too.

I am so excited:cheer2: because we will be at the party on September 11. Although that is a day with some not so pleasant history, this year will be incredible as it will be our first full day in Florida and we might get to see you at GKTW.:flower3:

Thanks again for all you do for us all. You are truly the best of the best!

Have a marvelous day.
Denise

Woohoo! I know -- I thought of the date when I wrote it last night - seems like a great way to spend a not-so-pleasant anniversary. :thumbsup2 -Can't wait to meet you all!!

Tara Laine - We'll also miss seeing you in November, by 2 week. Guess we'll just have to search for you at DHS!

Thanks for all you do for our Wish families!

Alison

Shoot -- are you going to be there on Thanksgiving?? Cool!!

I wish GKTW wasn't so far from our house (darn gas prices) - I'd love to be able to help even more often... :santa:

I'm going to try to see if the Grandparents can help with the boys next month - so I can get DH sucked into it. :thumbsup2

Amy,

I am so proud of what you have learned and are sharing here. Great Job! You are a blessing to many people. I sure hope you will continue to be involved here long after your trip, because you have so much caring and insight to offer. :thumbsup2

Tara Laine,

You have such a wonderful heart. It would be AWESOME if your DH could volunteer with you. I guarantee he would love it. It would be something that you could really share on a deep level as a couple. :thumbsup2

Thanks--URLs/links/website stuff actually fits in with my line of work, so I am happy to help!

Lauren, I can't find your pre-trip report. I searched under all posts with your name, but could not find it there. The search engine has its issues at times. Amy (GoofyDoo) has posted some very good instructions for you on how to paste your trip link into a signature or post.

Please let us know where it is, so we can pass the word around.

Bill

Oops, found it by doing a page by page through the pre-trip reports page.
Here it is I am so glad you started it.

I will add it to the list.

I received a post on another thread from a former Wish Trip family. The log in name is Amybasketgirl. Here is her post:

"Amber- My daughter received a wish trip two years ago. We also asked o extend our trip on our own dime. We stayed the week at GKTW then we stayed three days at Nick hotel. We used the one of our universal tickets and seaworld tickets during the last days of our trip. We did not have to turn them in. GKTW gives the wish child a special button to wear while at the parks( this is your in to the front of all the lines including all charaacters)on the button are the dates of your stay. The dates did not include the extra days we were staying. I asked at GKTW if we could get a different button for the extra days- they said they could not do this but to just use the button anyway we should have no problem with it. So we used it with no problem.

DD trip was in October so we went to MNSSHP. We paid for these tickets ourself.

At first when we were told that we would be staying at GKTW I was disappointed. We had wanted to stay at aDisney hotel. But Once you get there you won't be disappointed. DD wanted to stay there more than go to any parks. There is so much to do there! There is a movie theather, game room, train, pools, mini golf,castle,merry-go-round,activities every morning and evening. They aslo have planned visist with Disney characters for each family and photo are taken during your stay. They give you a CD at the end.

As far as food we ate most all breakfasts at GKTW. we were given $35 or $45(I can't Remember exact amount)a person for lunch at the parks. Then dinner was suppled By GKTW. If You choose to eat at the park that up to you. If you get back late They have pizza that can be delivery up until 10pm
possble later. We ordered pizza almost every night. There is an ice cream shop that serves ice cream all day. We had ice cream for breakfast a couple of times. ( this was a once in a lifetime trip who needs a balanced meal all the time). Our MAW advisor scheduled a lunch with the princesses per DD request. I was not sure if they were going to do this so I scheduled a lunch myself which I cancelled after finding out they did this for us. We had to pay for this ourselves or use the money given to us for lunches.

As far as seeing characters As soon as the characters assistance or the characters themseleves see the wish child they go to the front of the line.
We were at Epcot (this was our first park and I was nervous to approach anyone)and went to the meet and greet where all the characters are. We were standing in line when Mickey saw DD and The Button, He stopped everything out all the characters (Minnie,Goofy,Pluto,Chip and Dale)to come over to him. they went up to DD, Mickey took her hand and they danced with her played with her and signed her autograph book all while the other families waited. then they all go together for a group photo with our family.
which the photographer said they only do for wish families. DD was so happy I'm crying just remember that moment. So don't be afraid to go up to the first attendant you see at the the start of a line or near a character.

one more thing that might be of help- my DD could not walk for long periods of time we had a stroller for her to use when she got tired. When we got to the first park we went to guest services and got a tag for her stroller( stroller used as wheelchair) so you can take it with you through lines right up to getting on the ride.

DD and family had a wonderful time, it was so much to see and do in such a short time. have a wonderful time, It will be so special you won't believe it!
If I can answer any question I'd be glad to help.

Amy"

OK gang, it's long and probably too wordy, but I finally started our pre-trip report. It's called "MArk's Starlight Wish Trip - November 2008"...and, of course, I am stilll working on getting it into my siggie. I'll check out the hints now!

Alison

PS Oh I think I did it...here's the link...hope there's someone reading out there this morning!
Pre-Trip Report for Mark's Starlight Wish Trip: November 2008: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1883215

I could just cry....

I just got off the phone with Disney's Advance Dining Reservations. I was trying to make reservations for Sebastian's Wish Trip December 6th-14th 2008(five months from now!) and NOT ONE of the meals I was trying to make a reservation for had any availability. I tried explaining that this was a Make A Wish trip. Still Nothing. I know I could wait and try for to get worked in to a restaurant once we arrive but that's just not how I operate.

I tried for any of the following:
Dinner Chef Mickey's Saturday, December 6th
Donald's Safari Breakfast, Sunday December 7th
Dinner Liberty Tree, Sunday December 7th
Breakfast Hollywood and Vine Monday December 8th
Fantasmic Package Mama Melrose Dinner Monday December 8th
Late Lunch Cinderella’s Royal Table Tuesday, December 9th
Lunch the Garden Grill, Wednesday, December 10th
Late Lunch Cinderella’s Royal Table Wednesday, December 10th

I just can't believe that NONE would have anything during what is touted by countless books and websites as the least crowded time of year to visit.

When we went to Disney last October (a much more crowded time of year) I made all of our ADRs only a couple months in advance and we were able to book, Liberty Tree, Prime Time Cafe, Akershus Princess Meal, Sci Fi Drive In, Hollywood and Vine Fantasmic and Mickey's Back Yard BBQ.

Amber,
Don't get discouraged. Keep on trying. I think many people make multiple ADR's while trying to plan their schedule and then when they get it finalized, they cancel some of the extras. I would try once a week or so. Hopefully you have free longdistance so the phone charges aren't too bad.

I'll keep my fingers crossed that it works out for you all!(Not literally, else I couldn't type:rotfl:)

Denise

Amber,

Keep trying. We went in June of last year and I had tried and tried for Hoop Dee Doo Revue and couldn't get it. When we checked in to the hotel, we asked again and there was an open spot. It was a wonderful show and I am glad that we checked with the front desk.

Check, also, with Guest Relations, now and when you are there. Ask also for help at the Wish Trip Lounge when at MK.

Bill

Lauren's TR link is now in the upcoming trips post in my signature. :wizard:

There are also lots of updates on the various Pre-Trip Reports running. :surfweb:

I am waiting to hear more BIG GIVE updates. :yay:

Bill

Two new trip reports added.

We went to a Wish event at the Lincoln Park Zoo today in Chicago. It was nice. They did a volunteer appreciation and the kids got books and stuffed animals. Mick is going to do a talk for a fundraiser on Friday!

Amber, keep trying ... but honestly, I say just show up. I can't imagine they turning a family away during that time of year! If they didn't turn us away in June for the CASTLE, then I can't imagine it being a problem with any other time of year with any restaurant.

Amber, don't cry! I think they're working with some new rules for adrs I read something about 90 days out instead of 180. Your trip is more than 180 days away. Keep trying. Good luck!

Check out Alison, twinmum's new TR. There is a picture already! It is pretty cool.

Wendygrace and LindaBabe, its great to see some who go way back on this thread posting today.

Blessings

Bill
