I’m on the Wish now sitting by the Goofy pool. 5 minutes ago, the lifeguards at all the mid-ship pools blew their whistles and cleared everyone out.

I’ve never seen this before so I asked the lifeguard why they were doing it. She said it was their way to force the kids to take a break and hopefully use the bathroom and not go in the pool.

They’re keeping the pools clear for 10 minutes and then letting people back in.

That’s a new one for me.

My gym does this in the summer when the pool is packed with kids. The posted reason is that this lets the filtering system catch up with so many sweaty, sun tan lotion covered bodies in the pool. But yes, it also would encourage kids to go inside and use the bathroom. The alternative would be to limit how many people are in the pool, and they don't want to get involved in telling people they can get in the pool at all.

Interesting though the Goofy pool had only been open a half hour and after it opened back up it wasn’t really crowded but they shut it down again anyway.

That is when they check for 💩. We have been on many a cruise where the “10 minute break” turned into a multi-hour pool shutdown.

When I was younger our local pool would do something similar. They called it Adult only swim time. They would clear the pools out of all the kids and let the adults swim which was significantly less then the kids there.
