I really want to scrap but have not been feeling it for quite some time. What do you do to get yourself back in the swing? I have some many supplies and tons of pictures just nothing is moving me!

I know what you're saying. I spent some time yesterday looking through the Virtual Scrapbook on this board ... very inspiring. I even got one page done yesterday and am half way through the next. I'm like you ... I've got enough supplies to keep me scrapping for a long time to come and the pictures (just back from Disney).

Maybe let it go for a while? If you force it, you may just become more stuck. What stories are important for you to tell? Ruminate on those for a while and inspiration might come along as the stories arrange themselves in your mind.

Also, do you 'workout' ? As in exercise? I find that has actually helped my creativity. I have fewer spare hours in a week due to the time I spend working out - and yet I get more done than I did before. Weird, huh?

I find a specific project, like Disney or Christmas. Or I do a small book, 8x8 or the kids autograph books. Just something different.

I also make sure my space is clean. A messy house or space tends to stifle my creativity.

You could also just play with paper and get some coordinating things together. Sometimes that helps kick it in gear.

I was going to suggest the same thing. If you can find some small project to work on that interests you it may get you back in the mood.

Also having a messy scrap area totally demotivates me. Sometimes the kids and DH's stuff gets piled up in my area and then I have to spend my scrap time cleaning up their stuff. Definately a turn off for me.

Give it some time. I think most people have been in a slump before and they do eventually pass.

It's funny you say that. That's what has happened to me.

Then I fell in love with cards. I never have any on hand when I need them.
So have to make them as needed.

A few days ago I decided to continue with a scrappy page I started months ago.

I sort of think, we as women have a lot on our plates and we will get back to scrappy work when the time is right.

Somethng I have found is, at my dollar store I picked up some 12x12 clear pockets that hold scrapbook paper. I can put a few pictures (ie birthday) and as I see paper or embellishments I like, I put them in the pockets. Making it ready to scrap when the mood hits me. Does that make sense?

If you can't find the clear pockets just use file folders. It works the same.

Hang in there once you are hooked it will return:goodvibes

I second the idea about the clear pockets. I bought a pack of clear 12 x 12 envelopes at Michaels. I make up a kit when I find things that match my photos. This helps me focus on a small project. I find I get overwhelmed by having too many choices.

Another thing that helps me get motivated is to plan a cropping day/evening with friends.

Thanks for all the great ideas. Love the clear pockets never thought about doing that. And working out... I have been wanting to get back intot the swing of going to the gym maybe it will help with this too...
:)

Sometimes trying a challenge, or going to a crop is what gets me back into the swing!

Hopefully it will just click soon. I did a speed scrap on Mousescrappers last month (prob early June-ish) just to get some inspiration. It was the 1st page I had finished in at least 6 months (traditional or digital). Since then, I've completed 78 pages... all digital.... but hey, they're done! I'm almost up to date (for 2010 at least)!

Do you have some friends you can crop with? I do my best work scrapping with my friends. We have fun and if you get stuck on a page someone always has a great idea for you.

I will avoid the workout suggestions, mostly because I am currently avoiding working out myself. :rotfl: Actually, busy people accomplish more, so there's probably truth in that, too. Ugh. Okay, I'll hit the treadmill soon. Good luck! I hope you find your inspiration soon!
