I actually have to get teeth pulled next week for my braces...I'm so nervous..

I actually have had teeth pulled, and it's not that bad. But my dentist is really good, he'd pretend to just wiggle it and then yank it out. Don't be nervous, it doesn't even hurt that much. :)

you're braver than I, I'm the type to wait for the pain to get SO BAD that the thought of going to the dentist turns into a GOOD thing

I'm the same way with the doctor.

I probably have something terribly wrong with me, but I just don't want to go in to get the dang yearly physical.

Late.

I just plain don't like it. But it wasn't too bad last time. Mouthful of cavities. Get some novacaine, ignore the drilling, leave after like an hour. I don't get to fall asleep, but it's over and I don't have to see them for another 6 months.

I had all 4 of mine (which were impacted) done last summer. The IV sedation was so AWESOME! The IV was probably the worst part, coz they had to keep digging around for my vein. HaHa, the sedation lasted the whole day....I was so out of it they took me out in a wheel chair. I`m not gonna lie, the couple of days that follow hurt like no other. But take the Ibuprofen they prescribe you and you`ll be just fine:)

Oops! Error on my part, i had just taken an Ibuprofen so I assume it was still fresh in my head....I meant to put hydrocodion(sp!) :confused3

i don't have to get mine out yet... i only have 3 and my dentist says they look like batmobiles ( like from batman apparently, i just looked at her) weird...

I tend to do that too. I ignored my excruciatingly painful front tooth (like it hurt so bad I OD'd on Advil) until my whole face swelled up. When your face is so swolled you look like a monkey a rooth canal doesn't seem so bad :rolleyes1 Anything to make the pain go away.
My dentist though wants my wisdom teeth out before they cause me any pain. I didn't even know they existed until he did the x-ray at my appointment in May. We all figured I'd get them late in life, since dad didn't have his out until his 30's and mom was in college. Mine aren't completely developed yet but they're there. Less than a month until the consultation. We'll see what happens

So you were in the same situation. Thanks, I feel better now that I know more about it.

My surgery's tomorrow at 8 am! No eating or drinking after midnight.

Well, I made it through the surgery. :) It took less than an hour, and I came out of the anesthesia quickly. The worst part for me was feeling the needle, but that went away quickly since I fell asleep.

When I got home I watched the Disney vacation planning video - an instant healer for anyone! :rotfl: A little while after that though, when the numbness started to wear off, I felt absolutely miserable. But now I'm on painkillers and feeling a LOT better, though I look slightly like a chipmunk.

My only question is, for those that have had this done, did your throat hurt after the surgery? My throat's been bothering me a lot today, almost more than my jaw. My guess is that it might have dried out during the surgery? But I've been drinking water, so I thought it would have gone away by now. :confused3

Thanks for your concern, everyone! :grouphug:

My jaw was killing me from being cranked open so long, is that what you're feeling?

I don't remember specifically my throat hurting, but the whole area was killing me. Your mucous membranes in your throat may have dried out during surgery and may be feeling all scratched up and icky, though.

^I think I'm feeling both of the above. :sad2: Thank goodness for painkillers! :goodvibes

Ugh the doctor called today and I found out why my throat hurt so badly.........he had to put packs in it to make sure my teeth didn't fall down my throat. Ew.

wow, sounds painful. i was gonna suggest drinking juice or something for your throat, but it seems like you've found the cause of the problem :goodvibes . reminds me of the time i had my tonsils out...

^Yeah, ouch. Haven't had to do that yet, and I'm hoping to avoid that surgery! :p
