Wisconsin Dells Question?

2 daugthers age 6 and 9 enjoyed Kalahari this past June. The sports bar had great food. We don't recommend the other dining options there. Also, we found out the last day there that the indoor theme park passes were good for your entire stay...

We will try Wilderness Lodge next time. Not that Kalahari was bad, we'd just like to try something new...

probably a C compared to disney...

We stayed at Glacier Canyon at Wilderness Lodge and would definately plan another trip there! Beautiful accomodations and the water parks were GREAT!

The indoor waterpark at the Kalahari is OK, nothing special. The new arcade place attached to the Kalahari is supposed to be great. The Wilderness Lodge is the best for Indoor options-they have a couple indoor places.

We have stayed at Chula Vista also, I see from your signature that your kids are younger, that may be something you want to look into, there a big enough slides but not all to big!

For the age of your children - The Great WolfLodge is a perfect size. They have many things for that age range.

We love the Kalahari and have been several times. This weekend, we were looking for a quick getaway and the Wilderness Resort had a much cheaper rate, so we tried it, but didn't really care for it. I didn't like the multiple smaller waterparks (or walking between them, freezing cold) and when we woke up at a reasonable time in the morning (8 am) there was absolutely nothing to eat.

We have stayed at the Wilderness Resort 3 times. It's a LOT cheaper than the other resorts and quite nice. We also stayed at their budget "sister" motel a few miles away which was only $99 per night over Spring Break which included waterpark passes. It was very plain/budget (think Motel 6) but the staff was nice and the price was right for a last minute stay and we had the same wristbands as the WR guests who paid a lot more than we did. I had no issue with going from one waterpark to the other in the hallways.

I am an event planner who often books Dells venues for events.

The biggest and best indoor waterpark/entertainment venue is Kalahari. Period. It is the kind of place where you can truly spend hours and not get bored.

Chula Vista is a lovely hotel with a great buffet service for BLD. Their waterpark is much much smaller and better suited to smaller children or those who do not want to spend hours in the waterpark. I highly recommend their condo suites -- ask for one with a hot tub inside.

Great Wolf Lodge is also fun, especially with younger children.

For my money, the ONLY way to go to Wisconsin Dells is to rent one of the Glacier Canyon timeshares off ebay. Glacier Canyon stays gets you waterpark passes for Wilderness Lodge...where there are three large indoor waterparks...something for everyone really. I've stayed twice in 2010, both in 4BR presidential units, which are absolutely massive (2600 square feet, and just beautifully decorated). Quite simply, nothing nicer in the Dells. And, here's the best part. One trip, my share was $125 for a M-F (not per night, TOTAL), and the second time, it was a quick trip for my children's birthday party...three families, two nights, and I paid $300 total (and I paid for the whole thing). That total got me my room, and access to up to 10 people to all the waterparks for the entirety of the stay.

There is no better deal anywhere at the Dells. Period.

To get these great rates, you have to be willing to go during the week...weekends will cost you more. However, what you get in return is very quiet waterparks, and a truly relaxing and inexpensive vacation.

Great Wolf Lodge, Kalahari, and The Wilderness are the big 3. We have stayed at The Great Wolf the most, but I think that is just b/c of the specials that we recieved. We do want to stay at the Kalahari again soon, maybe this summer. All 3 are very child friendly. The Wilderness is very spread out and we didn't care for that as much. It has three seperate parks and it takes 5 plus min. to walk the halls to get to the other part. That is the main dislike from us. Too cold to walk in the winter from one to the other. Great Wolf has 2 that are sort of seperated, but is really connected nice and easy. Kalahari is one big open area, unless they have added on. It's been awhile since we have stayed there. HTH.

We've stayed at Kalahri, Great Wolf and Wilderness. None have them have great food options IMO.

For us, Wilderness was too spread out and the food was the worst. Great Wolf was okay - water park was nothing special, no in-room safes.

We've had the best experience at Kalahari, which was also my kids' favorite. The only thing I didn't care for was that they sell day passes to the water park, so we have seen large groups of unsupervised tweens running wild there.
