Has anyone tried taking a wireless router with them to one of the DVC resorts to set up a wireless network in their villa (so as not to be tethered to a cord)? Is this even possible? We would pay our daily fee and could make it so the router did not broadcast the network ID.

Yes, it's very possible. Some folks even set up their routers to broadcast, "sharing the love" with their fellow DVCers.

Yes, we just returned from the Boardwalk Villas and I brought the router. No problems at all.

We took a Linksys Travel Router with us to the Boardwalk Villas and it worked like a charm for 3 laptops. A wonderful invention! Ordered it from CompUsa off of their website.:thumbsup2

did you just plug it in and wait to find a network? you didn't sign up or pay for anything? :confused3 i just don't understand why there isn't free wifi there. i've stayed at some dumps that had it, lol. you'd think with all the conventions and conferences held there, it would be a no brainer. but i guess they like those 10 buck a day payments! :surfweb:

You have to plug your router into the wall jack in the hotel. You will still have to pay the fee. You must also have a laptop with a wifi card in order to use the wireless router.

Before you buy, look for available signals. We always "share the wealth" with our router at WDW, others likely do the same.
