Wireless internet

No there isn't. If you have a lap top you just plug into the telephone outlet and dial into an 800 number for your AOL or whatever ISP you use.

Thanks ncligs for your answer.

Does DVC charge you for plugging into their phones and dialing a 800 number?

If you are a DVC member, there is no charge for calling toll free (800) numbers.;)

But if your plan with aol does not include the 800 number, you will have to pay $6 per hour to use that feature while on vacation. It adds up.

No charge for 1-800 numbers. Many ISP's have local numbers available in the Orlando area. For these, you will be charged for a local call (.35 for DVC members). Make sure the number you use is a local number- not all in the area are truly local. There is a list of local call prefix numbers in the room phone book... or you can call the operator to check for you.

Most Kissimmee calls are NOT local, but most Orlando may be OK.

I use Netzero when at WDW. They have quite a few local access numbers with good connection speed (for dialup).

Enjoy!

If you have a laptop, and a cell phone with a nation wide plan, you are all set. There is a cable you can get with the software for about $60 to connect the two together. Many cell phones have unlimited nights and weekends, so it isn't costing you a thing. I found my equipment direct from Motorola, but if you are a Verizon customer, you can get it from their website.

This is exactly what we do. We have Verizon and just call after 9:00 pm or anytime on weekends, direct to our dial-up ISP in Indiana.

This is really nice because we travel fairly extensively, often just 2-3 nights in a location, and we don't have to worry about trying to find local numbers.

You can even get on line from your car if you want.

The one caveat, the connection is slower due to the cell phone. Also your phone must have a data port which hooks up to the computer, and you must be calling from an area which has digital service. (Which is almost everywhere now)

Thnanks everyone for such great answers! Looks like the cell phone option is pretty good. I am goin to check on that today.

Does anyone know the local Orlando number for AOL ,they have 8-10 numbers all with different prefixes. Thanks, Rich
