I am an Expat and a veteran WDW, however we now call DLP home. I just can't grasp why being at DLP in the cold, wind and snow would be fun. Explain this to me please. I love sunny Florida in January.

DLP in winter is fun, the resort is empty and the rides are walk-ons. We like to go in December for the Christmas season and there is nothing like walking down Main Street during Christmas with carols being played and decorations up, with a chill in the air and if your lucky real snow falling.

The resort is just so magical under a layer of snow, here are some photos I took in 2010 after snow fell in DLP during our trip.

Totally agree with you Jonjo! Although I've not experienced real snow like your photos, we have been in early December and absolutely loved it. Blue skies, chill in the air and walking down Main St with the Christmas Carols playing is just lovely...as Jonjo says, rides were walk on, we only went for 2 nights and did absolutely loads of stuff - had the best time.

Remember, there are loads of places to warm up, hot chocolate sold everywhere and I think the cold is easier to tackle than the pouring rain which we experienced last week.

If I could get time off work this year I'd be there like a shot!

I love the snowy pictures. We went once when it snowed years ago and it was cold but so magical in snow!

The snowy pictures are just beautiful and you give me hope. However, I just booked Orlando for spring break. KLM has a sale and it was in the budget so back to WDW for us this February. Perhaps we will try DLP this winter and get a snow day.

I guess if you have been used to living in Florida winter in DLRP will seem like walking in a freezer, it will take some getting used to..
For me, wintertime brings another atmosphere to the park,
they did calculate the harsh winters when they built DLRP so many areas are covered,
also: Mainstream had two extra covered walkways on the side that are really very beautiful in theming and atmosphere, plus they provide a dry and warm walkway to the center of the park. When snow has fallen.. the park is at its most beautiful and pure magic from mother nature can't be beat in my opinion.

I can't imagine going to a theme park in the winter, but your pictures are beautiful!! I could see why it'd keep the crowds away and you'd get better pictures and shorter lines. I was at WDW in February and there was an usually cold week, like temps were in the 40s. Watching the MSEP with no one around was pretty special, even if we were very cold!
