I thought I once read(on here somewhere) that on Winnie the Pooh if you ask a CM they can disable the bouncing on the ride. Does anybody on here know if this is true?

I ask because my cousin's daughter, has neck issues and we were wondering what rides she can go on(she is almost 2) that won't upset her neck at all.

I asked on the THEME PARKS board, but nobody was able to help answer that question, however, they were great with helping me come up with a list of rides Bella may be able to go on.

I know that there are other terrific things that she can see and do without the rides, but her mom and I were curious as to what to do for the next time I visit them. We considered taking our older kids to Universal, but, Bella HAS to be with her everywhere so that leaves me(the chicken) to go on the thrill rides with the kids:scared1: I suggested Disney because they are more family friendly and I feel could cater to a child with special needs much better than Universal. And that way, My cousin and her daughter can enjoy rides together:goodvibes

Great question!

My daughter has different issues but similar needs. I would love to hear the answer on this (subbing!)

There is an accessible car that does not bounce. You could ask about using that one.

Yep, we rode Pooh just this week (I posted some pics in another thread about the new Pooh queue, which is great). The accessible honey pot has a space for a wheelchair, but it also has two flip down seats as well. The CMs can disable the bouncing on that car.

THANK YOU ALL FOR YOUR RESPONSES!!! So excited to hear this. I can't wait to tell my cousin!!!!

I'll post a picture of the ride car this evening.

Very cool Thank you! Bella isn't in a wheelchair but she probably will end up having one as she gets a bit older. She was supposed to have surgery last month on her neck, which is about 80% of her movement issues, but she also has Cerebral Palsy. The Dr. wants to wait another 6 months to do the surgery until after she turns 2. Her mom was disappointed, but knows thta the results will probably be better by waiting a bit longer. She will be able to walk eventually, but with the help of a walker/braces and most likely a wheelchair.

So excited for this info!!! I'm gonna compile a list of rides at all parks that she can possibly go on and email it to my cousin!!!

Here’s a picture of the Winnie the Pooh accessible ride honey pot. There is space for a wheelchair and she would probably be able to stay in her stroller - depending on how low she she sits. The CM is folding up the seats in the picture.

There are some other attractions with wheelchair vehicles where she may be able to stay in the stroller. It will be up to the CM at the attraction and exactly what the stroller is like.
One that may work is Jungle Cruise. Here’s a picture of the lift that gets a wheelchair onto the boat:

And this is my daughter on the boat in her wheelchair:

This is a link to the wdwinfo.com site’s height calculator:
http://www.wdwinfo.com/wdwinfo/height.htm

You can use it to see which attractions she will be tall enough to ride. If you enter 0 (zero) in, it will show you the height requirement for each attraction. Those which don’t have a height requirement are generally quite ‘tame’ because infants can go on them.

You can look at the park maps for the attractions with warnings - they are marked with a red triangle on the map and also on a sign at the entrance to the queue.
The wording for the general warning is:
WARNING! For safety, you should be in good health and free from high blood pressure, heart, back or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride.

For Epcot here are the attractions with warnings:
  • Mission Space - both the more tame (green side) and the more wild (orange side)
  • Test Track
For Magic Kingdom:
  • Splash Mountain
  • Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
  • Tomorrowland Indy Speedway
  • Space Mountain
For Disney Studio
  • Star Tours
  • Rock N Roller Coaster
  • Tower of Terror
For Animal Kingdom:
  • Kilimanjaro Safari
  • Kali River Rapids
  • Expedition Everest
  • Primeval Whirl
  • Dinosaur

Thank you very much for the pictures! I am glad to hear that Jungle Cruise has it too. My cousin said yesterday many thanks!!! And Bella will have a wheelchair after her surgery in what we hope will be August! It is also nice to see that no matter what the age or disability, everyone can have fun at Disney! Your daughter looks so happy on that ride. I want Bella to have that look too!
