Hi everyone

We are booked on the western cruise 08/16/03,
and we like a good bottle of wine with dinner.

Can someone tell me if the wine package that DCL offers
is worth the price ?
Any good wine on the list ?
What if we don't drink it all at one dinner ?
What if we go to the buffet one night ? Do we still get the wine ?

Thank you in advance for your help...
;)

Bump. We're on the same cruise and are thinking about buying the wine package also. I'd like to know too.

My husband and I bought the wine package on our 4/02 cruise and we will not do it again on our 4/03 cruise. We found that some nights we just wanted a drink instead of win but felt that we had already paid for the wine and had to get it. The wine selection was okay but limited in the whites...i like pinot grigio and sauvignon blancs and only found 1 bottle of each available. So again....this year i will order by the glass and then have an alcoholic beverage when i feel like it. Hope this helps!!

Thanks Jillie,

we prefer white also , and rosé
so i guess will have to see onboard...

My DH doesn't drink wine, so no way I could have done the package. I ordered a bottle of white the first night, red teh second, and my asst. server kept both appropriately for me, and both were on the table when I arrived each night. After I decided what I was going to eat he took away the one that I didn't need that night, and stored it for me. The second to last night I knew I was going to have whatever it was on the last night, and took the other bottle which still ahd a glass or so in it back to the cabin to finish off. (I had also had two bottles in the cabin--I know, call me a lush :) ) It ended up working out perfectly, four bottles for the week, two in the cabin and two at dinner.

I asked about this a while back and here is a summary of the major points (at least that stood out to me) that I discovered.

If you do not drink a whole bottle at a meal your server will store it and bring it to the next meal for you.

It can be moved to Palo or you can order a new bottle at Palo by letting your regular server know. Not sure about Topsiders.

Anything you haven't opened can be taken home with you - remember to declare it in your duty docs.

Wait to decide until dinner the first night after reviewing the FULL wine menu. You will need to ask for this as the one normally brought out is only partial. Depending on your preferences then you can decide on one of the packages or to order from the menu. Again an opened and unfinished bottle would move to the next dinner.

As I recall ordering a package was approximately a 15% savings over the menu price ordering separately.

I was happy with my wine package - My husband does not drink wine so this worked out perfectly for me - I had trouble deciding which wine I would like, and the server brought me several samples to help me determine which one would be best for me.
I liked it so much, I bought an unopened bottle to bring home with me!

We are going again in October, and I plan on doing this again!
