Wine list recommendations.....

We are just off the Magic 1-27 and my wife and I both became big fans of the Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio. Very tasty. Do the wine tasting early on your cruise. The wine stewards will all be there and they can help you with your choices. At $12 per person it was a good deal.

All this talk about wine and NO ONE has mentioned Gaierhof Moscato Giallo Trentino? Sasha had DH and I try this during dessert at Palo and we fell in love with it! I've searched and searched for it locally but the distributor (OPI) doesn't seem to offer it anywhere down the east coast. It is a sweet wine so those who like dry, beware. Here is the description of the wine from a website I found:

Moscato Giallo is a delicate dessert wine perfect for creamy cakes and fruit tart, but is excellent with fresh and aged cheese served with fruit and jams.

Perfect with the chocolate souffle'!!!

If anyone likes Zinfandels, I like Ravenswood "Lodi" Zinfandel. Ravenswood bottles several Zins - I like the "Lodi" - very hearty, blackberries, spices, pepper, YUM!!!! I also like the Rancho Zabaco Zin. They also bottle it as "Dancing Bull" Zin though they are different. I prefer the Rancho Zabaco although it's a little cheaper than DB. I will, seriously!!, drink any wine produced by Cakebread Cellars or Grgich Hills!!! Excellent wines - I love when my wife and I go to visit my BIL who lives in San Francisco!!!! You may have to bring some of these on the ship with you though.

I definitely agree with the Conundrum recommendation! Also, if you like sparkling wines, they have some nice Prosecco. It's an Italian sparkling wine that we were introduced to on our last Disney cruise and really enjoyed!

Big fan of Greg Norman's Shiraz.....discovered it on DCL about three years ago..and now it is my favorite wine! IT cost about $15 a bottle here at home..but like $40 on the Ship or $8 a glass. Have only read good reviews on it!

On our first cruise we bought 2 bottles of Rosa Regale. On our 2nd we brought 2 bottles on board with us. We are not wine drinkers but we sure can polish of a bottle or 2 of the Rosa.:rolleyes1

My DH and I did the more expensive of the two wine packages because it had the Conundrum on it. We had had it before and really liked it and wanted to try it again. Oddly though, that's the one wine of the 7 on the package that we never got around to drinking! We brought it home and it is still sitting in our cellar!

My point is not only about the Conundrum, but about the wine package. If it's financially viable for you and if you are each going to have a glass or two with each dinner, the wine packages actually work out to be less expensive. AND, if you don't finish a bottle you can either save it for another night, or take it with you and finish it later that night somewhere else on the ship. And if you don't end up drinking them all, as we didn't, we can take any unopened bottles with you off the ship, within customs allowances, of course.

And as for the Rosa Regale, we are also fans of this one. However, we can't finish a whole bottle just between the 2 of us. Don't get me wrong, we DID do it once and got so silly and so DRUNK, that we decided the next time we partake of that particular spirit, we are going to share the lovliness of it with friends!

"Disney Fairy Tale Cuvee" is a fantastic bottle of sparkling wine. This is from an OUTSTANDING grower in Northern California - Iron Horse Vineyards. This is available ONLY on a DCL cruise at Epcot.

Brenda-Jason...Thanks again (sorry for the personal message to my "Cruise Buddy")

CHEERS!!!

I too like the Conundrum, but we went with the basic wine package instead because I didn't want to shell out the extra bucks for a wine I can buy at home for $25. We only drank whites - red gives me a headache if I drink more than a glass. Our favorite was the Brancott Sauvignon Blanc - it actually tasted a lot like Conundrum - very fruity with tropical flavors. Perfect with seafood, which I normally ordered. We also went to the wine tasting and they had a great Merlot which you could get if you like reds. Not nearly as tannic as most Merlots I have tried. Unfortunately I forget the name - it was on the basic package though.
