Hello and TYIA for ALL of your help! I know there are MANY threads regarding this and I have looked through some of them a few weeks ago, but honestly, my brain is so exhausted from work and P/T conferences I can't go through any more threads to organize my thoughts! LOL! Sooooo, I'm hoping a few of you would be kind enough to help me with the following questions:

1. About how many glasses come in 1 bottle?
2. How much is 1 glass of wine on board?

My math is as follows:

Package = $230 (this includes 15% gratuity and is about $32/bottle) ... DECIDED NO on this!!!!!!
Bring on board = roughly $60 (about $15 for 4 bottles of wine)
Pay as you go = ?????

Any other information that you think is helpful would be greatly appreciated!
Cheers!

A bottle has about 5 glasses.

Near the bottom the prices are listed for some wines. Obviously, this is just a few. DH ordered a glass of wine in Palo that was pretty spendy, maybe $25 for a glass. There are prices for all budgets.

I'm not a wine drinker but DH is and he's found that for what he wants (he's a little picky and likes to pair his glass with the meal he's choosing) he prefers to pay as he goes

Don't forget that if you bring wine on board and plan to have it in the MDRs there will be a corkage fee that I believe is now $30/bottle.

Actually 1 bottle = 4 glasses

No, a standard sized 750 ml wine bottle is considered to be 5 glasses. 750ml = 25.4 ounces. 5 ounces is considered to be a "full pour". When evaluating whether to purchase a bottle or pay by the glass, you need to use the "full pour" measure to compare. Granted, when pouring for yourself, you will likely pour more than 5 ounces and end up with 4 glasses per bottle, but that won't be an accurate measure when comparing costs.

Well the standard pour on the restaurants I've owned and managed for the last 30 years is 185 ml and most bartenders tend to over pour. But that's just my experience.

We always buy the wine package. 4 glasses...5 glasses I don't know, but we do enjoy having a bottle of wine with dinner. I like having the bottle on the table where we can pour it ourselves. It's easier than waiting for the server to bring you a second glass. They do get busy and service can be hit or miss.

We always assume 4 glasses per bottle.

We've gotten the wine package before and we're happy with I but it forced us to drink wine when sometimes, we wold have preferred a cocktail. Plus, instead of 7 nights of mediocre wine ,we'd rather buy better bottles for 4 nights...

As for by the glass, we try to avoid it as you don't alwasy get what you ask for. We've ordered Pinot noir that is obviously NOT Pinot... Or You glass of Cab may be 2-4 days old and oxidized. Wine by the glass is hit or miss.

Instead of by-the-glass you may decide the easiest and most reliable route is to pick a bottle one evening. Enjoy a glass or two. Then your servers will bring the bottle for you to the dinner the next night. No corkage fee or other fees on the second night. This will work out well if you've already looked at the menus to know you would want the same wine with the entree the following night.

For a seven night cruise, you could choose the 3 "night" package to get 3 bottles of wine, and thy by better bottles or cocktails on the other nights if you want.

This is what we do. We don't have wine with dinner every night, so 1-2 bottles over the length of the cruise suits us nicely. We usually attend the wine tasting and we often choose our wine from among those we sampled.

This is in addition to the wine we bring onboard to enjoy in our room before dinner, which is why we don't always want wine with dinner.

Both the restaurants I ate at this weekend offer 6, 8 and 10 ounce sizes on wine. So that would be 4 glasses per bottle at the smallest size.

This is what my family and I do... If its just the adults, then we do a bottle every night, but if my nephew comes, then we do a 4/5-night package.

But, my family does bring bottles of wine on board. It is a pain to carry them, but I think its worth it. We always do the first seating for main dining, so usually by the time we get back into our room after the shows or evening activities... we tend to call room service for a cheese plate or other yummy dishes (sometimes just more dessert) and open a bottle of wine and just hang out. You can even request for wine glasses.

Wow!! I didn't know you can do this!!! If I pick the 3 "night package" then basically we have 3 bottles on "credit" to our account? THANK YOU!!

Yes,instead of thinking of them a x night package, just consider them an x bottle package. If you are on a 4 night cruise and are thirsty, you could get the 7 night package :-)

FYI- Disney standard wine pour is 5 ounces. Other places/restaurants may do it differently. At Disney the standard pour is 5 ounces.

On our Wonder Cruise in December, our servers let us upgrade wine packages for the incremental price. We selected the 3-night wine package and drank all three bottles by the third night so changed to the 5-night wine package for the incremental price difference, and then by the 5th night, we had drank all five bottles, so just finally decided to go with the 7-nighter for our 7-night cruise... haha
