Saw on the website last night that is scheduled for Sept 30-Oct 1, 2011. It said registration would open Feb 14th but I was wondering if anyone had any information yet. With those dates seems to be they are going to be held Fri/Sat instead of Sat/Sun as this years was. Also curious if they are going to "make" you buy the Halloween party ticket with your 5k registration?

Not sure about the Halloween party ticket this year, but when Disney posts the dates of races it starts with the first day of the expo. So I would expect the expo to be Friday the 30th and Sat the 1st and that both races would start on the 1st.

This is almost certainly correct because that is what they did this year. Expo and kids races on Friday, 5K and half on Saturday.

Thanks for the clarification. I will keep a check here and on the official website. I was trying to get a head start on planning.

I would agree with the others that the 1/2 marathon will be Saturday night. Frankly with these races being "destination" races for many people, I can't image them holding the race on Friday night as that would eliminate the ability for many people to travel for the weekend to the do the race.

Could anyone tell me the cost of the 2010 WD half marathon and the price of the 5k. I saw a party ticket was included, were you able to pay for extra tickets? DH and I already planned a trip that weekend and I am beyond excited to see there are races that weekend. I have only done 2 5ks before but would love to train for a 1/2. I know registration opend 2/1, but would like to hear about last year's race prices and what was included without reading the entire thread dedicated to last year.

How quickly did the race fill this year? If I don't get into the NYC full, I'll likely be interested in doing it...but I won't know about that until March or April.

From what I remember, the 5K fee was $90/$95 but it did include one ticket for the MNSSHP that Sunday night. The issue with that day was many people went back home Sunday and missed the party.

Thanks for the info. That would be a problem for us as we would leave on Sunday too. I would much rather attend an after party that night. But not sure I could run a half and then attend a party.

DH said he would do the 5K with me, first time ever for him (in fact I have never seen him run) but not sure we want to pay close to $200 to do it.

DC Bride - there is also relay option split 5/8. I think that was less than $200, maybe $185? I want to do the half again this year, but might sign up for this with my husband if he is serious about participating.

On a different note, the after party wasn't that great. The food lines were long and I didn't even use my tickets I gave them away. I will say it was PRICELESS to have someone not in the race to be waiting for you with your stuff. I'll gladly pay for a friend to attend the party if it comes to that. :) Frankly, I was thrilled to finish the race. I could have stayed longer, but had a friend that was not doing well after finishing and we needed to get her to her room.

I do hope Disney gets the kinks out for this time around. I know it was the first time they did this race, but only having the World Showcase open for how many thousands of runners and their family and friends just wasn't enough space. It would've been fun if they had all of EPCOT open.

The issue with the party was not the runners, families and friends... It was the sale of passes to the general public for the party. You did not need a tie to the event to purchase a pass into the park. That was the big issue with the post race party. Limiting the party to runners and the equivalent of 2 or three additional tickets would have cut the crowd. THat should occur, EVEN if it means they sell out of the non-runner party tix and have to turn late purchasers away.

I'd be interested to hear from runDisney what, if anything, they plan on changing for next year's race.

For me, the pros definitely outweighed the cons. However, I didn't check a bag, so I definitely escaped a big issue there.

I'm not 100% sure I'd do it again, mostly because we're going to be in Orlando for 8 days in August, so September 30 is a little soon. We'll see.

I did LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the training session with Jeff Galloway on Friday morning at EPCOT. It's one of my favorite Disney memories ever.

I didn't know they had sold tickets to the general public. That would certainly explain why it was so crowded. They should make it specifically for the runners and a couple friends/family members. After all, it's because of the race the Showcase was open in the first place. I know a lot of runners, my parents included, who did not want to wait around for food and drink at a late hour after running.
