I know they closed the Vineyard Room several years ago, but what replaced it? Is the Wine Country Trattoria at the Golden Vine Winery a 2 story restaurant in place of it? Thanks!

Sadly it is gone and a replacement of equal caliber has not followed. The current offerings at that location are the Wine Country Trattoria on the lower-level and there is a lounge on the second floor that serves wine and appetizers (essentially part of Wine Country Trattoria). Hope that helps.

We ate at Wine Country Trattoria on our most recent visit. We had been looking forward to it for quite some time and thought it would be a nice place to celebrate our son turning 21.

What a mistake! We had a lunch reservation for 1130 am when it first opened for the day. This was on Friday, August 5. There were maybe 3-4 other tables with patrons, so it was most definitely not busy. The staff were standing around in groups visiting with each other. It took a long time for our waitress to come to our table. DS and DH each ordered a pint of beer to start. I had an Iced Tea. It took a VERY long time for the waitress to return with these drinks. Not sure why since it wasn't busy. It was obvious, though, that the beer had been poured immediately upon our ordering. There was no longer a head on either glass, and the volume was down about 1.5" from the top of the glass. As it was a warm day, the beer was already starting to warm up and was starting to go flat. Yikes.

The waitress, when asked specific questions about items on the menu was clueless. She was also apathetic about offering to find answers. The food took a long time to arrive, and when it did, it was passable but no more, in presentation and flavour. It was brought out by someone other than our waitress.

The waitress did not return once to see how our food was or to offer more water. Not once did she glance over to see if we were eating or waiting for something. Again, there was a large gathering of staff chit-chatting with each other, including our waitress. I guess we could have yelled for her to come over, but that's hardly appropriate. Took a long time for her to bring the bill. The total was just over $73 and we paid with a $100 bill. She had the nerve to ask if we desired change!!!

Long story short, it was exceedingly disappointing both for service and food. We will not be returning.

Yikes that's terrible! We have dinner reservations for our trip. Maybe when it's busier they're less chatty among themselves and the service is better? We can hope!

Yikes, hopefully it's better when we go there next week! I have a lunch ressie with World of Color preferred seating package booked. Hopefully we have a much better experience than the one described. I will definitely say something if I am not impressed!

Hubby and I ate at Wine County Trattoria last summer for the WOC package. This was within a few weeks of their re-opening. We were not impressed by the service or the food and haven't been back. Service was painstakingly slow from start to finish (we were starting to freak out about making it to the WOC show) and the food was only so-so.

I have heard better things about Ariel's WOC dining package, but haven't eaten there myself. We haven't done the WOC dining package since that first time, since we felt it didn't save us a whole lot of time. Now we eat at Napa Rose, which is vastly superior in cuisine, service, and price! :rotfl:

Just fyi, I am pretty sure that by eating lunch at WTC, you do NOT get the preferred fast pass for WOC, just a regular FP. Make sure you clarify if you thought you were getting the preferred FP. The language on the website is confusing, but if you look closely you see that lunch gets you a "reserved" FP and dinner gets you a "preferred" FP.

Ok, after reading some of this, and looking at our options again, just called my new friends out at Disneyland Dining and cancelled our WOC for Wine Country Trattoria, and booked dinner at Ariel's Grotto. Thanks for the info! DH and I can enjoy a nice evening dining outdoors enjoying the sights of DCA together at Ariel's Grotto. At least I won't feel guilty as the Princesses don't visit during WOC dining, since we are leaving DD in Orlando for this trip!

Good move! We ate there last week for WOC package and it was the worst meal we had all week. We were so disappointed!

We just ate there for the first time a few days ago and we were also very disappointed.

The service was slow despite the restaurant only being half full and it took forever to get any drink refills. I ordered a shrimp scampi pasta dish and it was very bland. DH ordered a chicken pasta dish which was super salty and DS had the kids chicken and pasta. His chicken was cold and had a bottle of pepper seasoned over it. Far too much for any person, but especially a child. Needless to say, we won't be returning.

Good to hear all of this! DW and I are going in October and I was trying to decide whether to go to Wine Country Trattoria or Ariel's Grotto for WOC dining package. I was thinking Wine Country since we ate there several years ago and it was good. I guess I'll go with Ariel's now!

I know a bunch of CMs and guess what they work at both WCT and AG in rotations.

So while the service at WCT may seem slow, it's because the food at AG isn't as fresh. You are going to walk in and get your antipasta and salad that was produced in mass while they cook your chosen entree. So take that with some salt.

As far as the WoC meals. The dinners give you a Show Ticket to the Preferred viewing area (which is not much better but between the Yellow and Blue sections of Paradise Park). The lunch parkage at WCT give you a Reserved Ticket as Disney terms it. It's for the Blue or Yellow zones, just like the Picnics offer.

Keep in mind that no matter which zone you get, you still need to be early and get a spot along a rail. No zone guarantees a great view.

If you want a lot of details look at the WOC superthread.

More time required to prepare food in the kitchen doesn't explain why our beer sat so long after pouring before being served. It also doesn't explain why the server never returned to the table once our food had been brought out to see if everything was ok. In my mind there is no excuse for either of these occurrences.

This was a truly disappointing experience for us, especially since we had looked forward to it for so long. The setting, outside on the deck, was fabulous. There is so much potential here, but sadly, with service like we received we will not be returning. Too bad.

yikes! I booked this with the WOC package for our trip next month.......maybe I should re-think this!

We are also doing Ariel's for lunch while we are there. Guess we can find out which is better :) We're not doing the WOC, just the meals and hoping to get in for the WOC without too much trouble since it's somewhat off season. We'll be there a week so if we have trouble the first couple nights we'll book the WOC for the end of the trip.

I had an excellent meal there a few weeks ago with the WOC package.

Glad someone had a good experience!

I can't find a menu. I clicked on the menu base and went to the restaurant menu page, but all they show is the wine. I've just had gastric bypass, so I'm trying to find food I can eat.

We did the WOC package back in November of last year. I remember being a bit nervous because I had heard quite a few negative reviews too. However, our experience was not nearly as bad as some of these folks here have had. The service could have been a little faster but the food was really pretty good. As a matter of fact my DS-20 who is generally very picky about food actually requested that we go back on our trip coming up this year in November. The biggest problem we had was that out waiter was very soft spoken and we could hardly hear him. As with most places in the parks I think there are always mixed reviews because so many factors can make or break your visit. We are just going to cross our fingers and take our chances and see how it goes again.
