My husband and I did many of the free events at the Food and Wine Festival over the 10 days we went. We love the free wine classes and have discovered some of our favorite wines this way.
We love the new area the festival center is in. It is sad we cannot do Body Wars or the Making of Me but since it wasn't being used you get to wait for classes in the A/C and you don't have to trying and listen to the wine expert while someone is trying to get there kids picture taken with Goofy in the background!
Some how I always thought that was a strange set up.

Wine class list for the day
For the week day classes we arrived a 1/2 hour early and were able to get in. I saw same wait times on the weekend for over and hour. Our longest wait was an hour on a Saturday for Silver Oak.
You usually get from 3 to 4 1 ounce pours of the wine they are discussing. Some people bring so slide show about the area or vineyard. Some are the actual owners and some are distributors. We have learned something we didn't know at each.
Beer School:
Is located at the America building on the right side as you are facing it. It is conducted by Sam Adams and you get to try 4 beers including the Festival Beer of the Year. This years was great! We also had Oktoberfest, Sam Adams and Sam Adams light! When you walk in you also get a Sam Adams key chain/ bottle opener!
The free events are fun and worth the wait if you like the product they have or are willing to try something new for free. You do see strange behavior in the classes like people who talk over the wine/beer speaker, people drinking there wine as they sit down and leaving to get into another line before the class is over, people staying for the whole thing and drinking strangers wine that wasn't finished!
but over all it's a great thing to take part in!
