Is the Wine and Dine plan $39 in addition to the $38 for the basic dining plan?? All you get extra is Wine? :lmao: Just Curious! :confused3 Thanks for any input!

The charge is per booked room (not per person). It's basically a credit system like the Dining plan, you get one credit per night of your stay. You can use all the credits in one day or spread them out over the entire stay. Wines up to around $55.00 have been report as being 1 credit and wines up to $105.00 2 credits. Wines beyond that are not allowable using credits.

Correct. The DDP with wine allows a credit of one bottle of wine per room per night. And wine obviously can get in the high dollar range.

$39 per room for the wine and dine per night of our stay...

allows for a "$55" bottle of wine for our TS meals,

I'm telling you I am more confused about the wine and dine pkg - not enough reports of people who have used it I guess... (I read the brochure, but still wasnt sure how it works)

we usually get a glass of wine for our Cali Grill, or LeCellier, or Yachtsman meals - and its hard to find a glass of wine for under $12 - -

which is why I am curious how the wine and dine plan works

While I didn't do the wine and dine plan, I can tell you that at the few restaurants where we did order a bottle of wine, a regular old run of the mill bottle of red was between $35 and $40 per bottle. So $39 per day per room sounds like about an average price to me.

(Keep in mind, these $35-$40 bottles are generally available at your local Costco or liquor store for about $15-$18)

Very true, but Disney is no different then any other restaurant when it comes to this. And they buy in such volume, I'm sure their price is even less.

Yup - I know that's everywhere.

What really annoyed me though is that they calculated my 18% gratuity based on my total bill including the $40 bottle of wine that probably cost them less than $10.00. :headache:

See the post I made in another thread where you pointed this out.

I don't see any difference in the mark-up of wine that you can buy retail or the cost of food that is also marked up over the cost of the actual items. You could buy the stuff used to make most meals at your local store and make it at home for a lot less then what they charge at a restaurant.

Your paying for convenience, supply and choice.

Agree. Look at the mark up just in bottled beverages at convenience stores and cafeterias. (Not Disney.) They charge sometimes three times as much as it would cost to buy it at a discount or grocery store. And the higher price just because it is cold.
