i'm starting to plan a nov/dec vacation. we stayed @ windsor hills last november and the family loved it. this weekend i came across the ginn reunion resort. it looks really nice, but a little further than windsor hills.

i'm hoping someone on the boards that has stayed at both can share their experiences with me. which resort do you like better?

my husband does golf, but probably wouldn't on the trip. we do plan on going to sea world, universal and disney. we only went to disney the last time, and windsor hills was only minutes away from the parks. not sure why i feel the need to mess with a good thing, but the reunion resort looks too beautiful to not experience.

thanks in advance for your thoughts!!!

Hi

Thanks for your question.

I own on both Windsor Hills and at the Reunion Resort, both fabulous communities! Although I totally love Windsor Hills, I have to be honest and say for sheer luxury and indulgence you cannot beat Reunion, it is 5* all the way with rates to match!!!!

Rather than going through the Ginn company itself (who charge a hefty premium) you might want to check out VRBO (www vrbo dot com), there are quite a few private owners on there who rent out their homes ranging from condos to 5 bedroom houses, if you rent privately, check that the owner will register you as an official guest, that way you get to use all the on-site amenities. Reunion is a cashless and tipless community (no tipping or cash is allowed), you are given a card for the duration of your stay and anything you purchase is charged to the card that you settle at the end of your stay. They have 3 championship golf courses, water park, tennis, health spa, kids camp etc, it is totally wonderful in every respect.

You might also want to consider a stay at the Reunion Grande Hotel, simply the BEST hotel rooms I have ever seen (they offer 1 or 2 beds), the rates start at around $450 per night for the 2 bed, so the downside is its far more expensive than renting on Windsor Hills. If you would rather rent direct from the Ginn company, check out some of the packages they have on offer (they often include attraction tickets and on-site credit):

Reunion has also just opened the Grande Hotel and the dining in there at the Forte is the best we've ever experienced in Orlando.

Reunion is also well located for the parks (just off Old Lake Wilson Road)

I hope this helps, feel free to ask if you have any other questions.

Sorry I couldn't put the actual links in, I don't have enough posts yet.

I haven't stayed at Ginn Reunion but a friend has. Ginn is very classy, more so than WH, but again there are differing levels of opulence within Ginn. It is a huge resort with some condo/TH units located outside the resort gates proper. To me WH is not a 5* resort as it lacks restaurant, spa, and golf. The grounds at WH are 4 1/2* but the other ammenities are lacking. Now Ginn is truly a 5* with a pricey spa, restaurants, really wonderful grounds, pool complex, etc. Oh, yeah, and a couple of really nice golf courses, that shouldn't be missed if you're a golfer and have playing priviledges while staying there. But Ginn is also quite a bit more expensive than WH. It is a few minutes further out, but not enough to make it a deciding factor in my mind. If you're spending the $$$ to go to Ginn, you need to want to experience the resort as more than just a place to hang your hat. Otherwise you're wasting your money by just using it as a place to sleep.

Oh, and I simply would not go there without my golf clubs. That would be blaspheme.

Like most things, you generally get what you pay for. Windsor Hills is great value for a top family resort. Reunion is great for high-spending golfers looking for that bit extra.

i love these boards. i read them every day. whenever i need help, someone chimes in with great advice. my husband may be packing his clubs now.:thanks:

Rent a condo from an owner and save a lot of money and have the same experience as renting through the resort direct. Here's an example of the luxury at an affordable rate.
