just came accross this when doing alittle research....looks WONDERFUL!!! a 3bedroom house with a private pool for $100 a night? it looks almost 2 good to be true. we have never stayed off property before...but my hubby is so fed up with "cheap linens" and small expensive rooms.

does anyone have any experience with this place? also what r your opinions about staying offsite?

when we go next year we will have me, hubby, 9 year old, 5 year old, and a 1 year old! thanks in advance!!!

Windsor Hills is large and units are owned privately, so you'd have to post the name of the owner/house in order to get a review of that particular unit.

I will say, though, that I have been searching for a 3 bedroom townhome and the majority have been in the $100-150/night range. It really does seem too good to be true sometimes. :) Make sure you're checking the cleaning fees, taxes, and any other fees the owner/management company may charge. I found some of the lower nightly rates had more fees tacked on, which brought the price up considerably, whereas the higher rates tended to include all taxes and fees.

The majority of Windsor Hills reviews I've read here have been positive.

There are several different types of accomodations at Windsor Hills.

Condos are 2-3BR and in large towers--I think 6 floors? These are the least expensive. They are right by the clubhouse, which is where the pool, game room, and theater are.

Townhouses are in groups, 1-2 story structures, attached in a row. These are also 2-3BR and most have a small (10'x10') "splash" pool.

Houses are stand-alone structures, with 1-2 stories, it depends on what you rent. They range from 3-7BRs, probably 2-5BA. These have private pools, usually with a hot tub. These are more expensive than either townhouses or condos.

Every owner decorates their own units, and the prices and amenities vary as well. Typical amentities to consider are: gas grill, game room, pool heat, free wifi/long distance, and baby supplies. All homes have a full kitchen and laundry facilities.

Windsor Hills is a gated community, which makes it quite safe. I felt comfortable letting my DD(then)14 go running by herself daily. It also has an elaborate playground.

We are a family of 6, with kids ranging from 5-16. We rent a 4BR/4BA house that's the same size as home, but nicer. My gang doesn't care to eat in restaurants, and we value our down time. For those reasons, it doesn't make sense to go for a smaller rental. My kids never, ever agree on anything in this world, excpet that they all love the house we rent in Windsor Hills. And that the pool is the best part.

We've stayed at Windsor Hills several times and have always been pleased. Satisfaction may vary a bit based on the unit and who you rent from. But for us, the location is great, amenities are great, price is hard to beat. The grounds are kept up nicely and I think the vast majority of the owners have good property management companies who keep up the units.

It's really hard for me to justify staying on site when I can get an entire townhome with private splash pool for 1/3 to 1/4 what Disney wants for moderate and deluxe resorts. We're pretty much 100% off site. Each time we think it'd be nice to stay at a deluxe like GF or the Poly, but after we price it, we end up going back to Windsor Hills, or occasionally Bonnet Creek. For us, much more bang for the buck. We're two thirtysomethings with no kids, so don't need the constant Disney theming of the on-site resorts. And we actually prefer to drive ourselves to the parks, so we don't miss having the Disney transportation either.

We've stayed in a townhouse and a pool home (pool home is probably overkill for your size party) and we loved both!

ETA: if 'cheap linens' are something that bothers your husband, the townhouse we stayed in might fit the bill. They were specific about luxury linens. 5mins2disney.

A 3BR condo or townhouse sounds like it would be perfect for you. Imagine being able to put the baby to sleep, and relaxing on the lanai with an adult beverage.

Seriously, we spent way too many nights, sitting in a dark hotel room, hoping the kids would go to sleep. This is SOOOO much better! Even if you like to spend a ton of time in the parks, and eating meals out, your family can have drinks and snacks, and really feel "at home".

There are some really elaborately themed bedrooms for the little guys, if that interests you at all. And some fancy-schmancy bedrooms with accompanying master bathrooms for the adults.

Before you start looking, you may want to make a list of "must haves" (baby gear? grill? video games?) and your "would likes" (game room? whirlpool in master suite?), to narrow your search. there are a ton of choices.

We love Windsor Hills. We've stayed in a condo and now we're renting a townhome.
A few things I became aware of when booking a townhome was the direction the pool home faces for sunshine, proximity to the clubhouse and to shop around. I put many lines in the water and heard back from handfuls of owners - all prices ranging. I ended up renting one for next January with no strollers etc. and no theme rooms, but that's fine with us. Lots to choose from. Have fun.
