Are you sure on that price range thing? You could at least ask for some quotes. I used
www.windsorhillsrent.com and got tons of replies. We only needed a 4 BR but wound up with a 5 BR b/c it was coming in at the same price as a 4.
I literally had about 20 responses within 10 minutes of my inquiry!!
Also, vrbo has lots listed too.
www.vrbo.comWhen are you traveling?
Even if it is only on from 8 to 8 it will still be warm when you use it. Most of the places we've stayed are like that and they stay warm. Even before the heat comes on again in the morning it's still warm enough to swim unless it's been really cold through the night.
Warning: Long and whiny
Well, I have spent the last 2 weeks pouring over almost every condo/townhouse on windshor hills rent.com and vrbo.com and honestly, I found very few places I would actually stay in. I know I am picky but with a 2.5 year old, I have to be (plus I am just plain picky myself

)
I would say the majority of places have glass coffee tables/end tables/kitchen tables, which is a huge no-no with my crazy little girl.
Then there's the master bed. I need a king. A queen will simply not do. See, in Canada, a king bed is HUGE...it is what I sleep on at home and I am still kicking my husband and telling him to move over (despite me already being in the middle
) Now, we find that a king in the USA, is more like a queen up here. Whenever we go on vacation, we make sure we get a king bed and no matter where in the USA we are, the bed is always smaller than what we are used to.
I have a hard time staying in a house with green/red/orange/yellow walls. I know this is me being picky but I just can't do it.
Feel free to flame away, but I don't understand why an owner would paint their walls in these colours????
I can totally understand staying away from white, but why puke green and halloween orange???
And lastly, while we won't be spending a huge amount of time in the condo, when we are in it, we will be watching tv. While my daughter is sleeping at night and napping during the day, there is not much else to do for hubby and I, so we will be watching tv. I have noticed that a whole lot of the condos and townhomes I have seen have small little tv's. Sorry, a 21" inch regular tv will not cut it for us. This is 2009 people...get with the times. You can get a nice 32" plasma for cheap! I don't expect a massive new tv system with DD DTS 7.1, but something a little more updated would be nice!
So, with all my needs and wants...I had it narrowed down to 3 or 4 condos and about 2-3 townhomes. One of the condos and 2 of the t/h's were already booked for my dates (I know...I should have made sure my October dates were available before even looking at them!)
That t/h that was available was the Magic Villa and I did a DIS search on it for reviews and found out that the heat is only on from 8-8 every day. Yes, the pool would still be relatively warm by 10 (it is east-facing) but I don't want to swim in it, I want to soak in it like a hot tub and use it like a spa (like the website states you can!) and there's no way it would be that warm if the heat has turned off at 8pm!
I also found out that the great decorations in the kids room are stickers on the wall which are bubbling and deteriorating. I know for a fact that my daughter would add to said deterioration so I decided against this t/h.
Which leaves me to the one condo that met our needs. I emailed the owner with a few questions last week and still haven't heard back.
So, I will keep on looking
I know that WH is perfect for us, I love the look of it and the location and the pool, I just have to find the villa that is right for us.
The 4 bedroom homes are all about $1100/week and up, and our budget is about $800-900/week.
The condos and t/h are different...I found a perfect 3 bed condo, but the guy wanted $1000/week and even though I liked the condo and it met our needs, I know I can get a t/h for that price so I didn't book it.
The condo I like is about $700, so if I hear from the owner soon, then I just might book it
