I just wanted to post a quick review of our experience with Windsor Hills condominiums for anyone who might be staying there.
We rented through Allstar Vacation Homes and overall, we were very pleased with them. I've had bad experiences off-site in the past so their customer service was something of a surprise. They responded to every issue we had immediately and they were super-friendly and organized. They have a relationship with the company we rented our cribs (we have twins) from and they were set up and waiting when I got there. In fact, the crib rental lady was there and she had shown the grocery delivery people where to put the groceries. Just having those two things done when we checked into the room was huge!
Of course, there were a couple of downsides to using Allstar Homes. There were a lot of extra charges, like security fees and cleaning fees that weren't reflected in the nightly rate. That almost doubled our cost. Plus, their cancellation policy is brutal--30 days or no refund. Naturally, we bought trip insurance. I think it cost $75? Still, we stayed at a three-bedroom condo for $750 for three nights. You can't touch Disney on-site for that much space.
The condo was really nice. It was a little frou frou for me and I ended up having to move some of the knick knacks so the kids wouldnt' break them, but it was very spacious, well-lit, and pretty. There were some cleaning issues (dirty floor, a big of hair in the bathtub, a shower curtain liner with some mold) that shouldn't have been there give the high cleaning fee you pay, but overall it was clean. The beds were comfortable. The bathrooms were a decent size. It was nice having a washer/dryer. Security seemed to be pretty competent.
I would recommend this place to anyone who stays off-site. It's a bit of a haul to the Magic Kingdom but overall, the drive to WDW is manageable, especially if you have older kids who don't need to come back to nap and can spend longer days in the park. I do think you can find much lower rentals in this complex through other companies, but because it was our first time renting a condo, we wanted to go with a known entity.
For us, we'll probably stay on-site from now on, but our experience with the condo itself was pretty positive.
