Windsor Hills - Are swim diapers mandatory in the main pool?

Well it is a rule for kids that aren't potty trained, yes. Is it enforced? Hmm....perhaps a better question is how well is it enforced? The real answer is, it depends probably on which pool attendants are working that day. I would guess most likely not, they're not going to chase you down and check each kid, no way.

However, if you had a problem, it could be fairly expensive (for you) as they would have to shut down the entire pool and clean it (trust me, I just had the same problem with one of the 2 year olds in my OWN pool last trip if you catch my drift!). hehe Fortunately my pool guy came out almost immediately and cleaned the pool, shocked it, and then we had to all stay out of the pool for a day and a half, but I got a big bill for it when I got home! (Which my dear sister said she didn't want to pay for, since it couldn't have possibly been her daughter, it MUST have been MY kids...who are much older and trained...hmm....) That's just for cleaning a splash pool though....

Zipping this downstairs:)

What's that sign say again..?
"We don't swim in your toilet, please don't pee in our pool"...
LOL!

Have a fun vacation:)

Dont worry guys - It's not my kids I'm worried about. They've been out of diapers for a few years LOL. It's the whole gross factor that has me concerned. Nothing ruins (and ends) a day at the pool more for me than spotting a little one splashing around in a diaper. Blech! I just hope parents are considerate and honor the "no diaper rule". (I did when mine were young) and George, I think that the pool attendents should most definetely enforce the rule - even if it means chasing people down. Ultimately it's a health issue.

3 months to go..............I cant wait!

I was just there and on their Windsor Hills TV channel (yes, we watched it!) they said kids who were not potty-trained had to wear "rubber pants". I had planned to bring some for my daughter, but forgot. I did pack the swim diapers. After looking for rubber pants (I have this need to follow the rules) and not being about to find them (Target, Walgreens, etc.), I called and they said swim diapers were fine. I always used them, was never questioned and didn't actually see many kids in diapers when we were there. I just wish their TV channel would say rubber pants or swim diapers...

Windsor Hills has it's own cable TV system, so Channel 21 on your TV when you arrive will have all kinds of helpful resort information, check it out! :) Clubhouse hours, movie theater info, sundry shop hours, rec area info, shuttle info, garbage pickup, pool info/rules, gameroom info, fitness center info, etc.

Don't forget to pickup your prox card in the welcome center / clubhouse when you arrive to access the clubhouse facilities.

Also, don't forget in the welcome center are discount cards for Mystic Dunes golf course next door, $175 a round down to $108!

Oh, and I'm sure the pool attendants would chase someone down if there were a problem, I'm just not 100% sure that every kid is checked, and nothing surprises me, it wouldn't surprise me to see a parent letting their kid run in w/o one, people will do all kinds of stuff they shouldn't.

Some guy just hopped the fence into the conservation marshy area....all fenced off...how dumb is that there's snakes and alligators and such in swamps/marshes in Florida! LOL All they did is yell at him to get out of there though, he didn't even have shoes on! At Mystic Dunes they told us to avoid all water areas for golf balls due to water moccasins, enough said for me! hehe

What are "rubber pants"?

Rubber pants are used over cloth training pants or cloth diapers as an alternative to disposable diapers or "pull-ups". People used to use them all the time, but they are rarely used now...that would explain why they are hard to find. I use them with the cloth training pants when I potty train my kids instead of paying so much for pull-ups.

Thanks andrychowski . I actually googled them and was able to see a pic of them.

I agree that WH should maybe change their message and mention both rubber pants and swim diapers. I probably would've went looking for them too next month had I not seen this thread.

As a former lifeguard I can tell you most pools consider swim diapers acceptable. Although in reality water still flows in and out of them so they are not protecting against germs. However if the pool is properly maintained there should not be any problems anyhow. In my experience the biggest pool polluters are the k-4th graders who pee in the pool. (yes, most every one of them will do it) THough again a properly maintained pool will not have any problems. Also getting poop or barf in the pool is not a huge deal. YOu just have to scoop it out and shock the pool. (been there, done that more times than I care to remember)

ONe thing thoug... Many public pools are not properly maintained, and many waterparks are really bad about being underchlorinated. IF you can smell the chlorine it is probably underchlorinated-- that means there is a lot of "free" chlorine and not enough being put to good use. Also the best time to swim is the early morning. Chlorine leaches out of the water with the heat of the afternoon sun. Evening is the worst time to swim in a busy pool.

Well most people wouldn't even be aware of it until you arrive and read the pool sign / rules typically in any case. But, I would think most people with little kids would know to bring swim diapers, wouldn't they? We always put our kids when they were that age in swim diapers, but they were in swim lessons here, so we knew. Only for the DIS would you know stuff like this in advance, but I think it's a state pool law in any case, every pool, including the resorts, is going to require little kids to wear swim diapers of some type, including Disney.

Just an FYI, Swim diapers do NOT hold any urine in them, they are only used to contain a BM.

Like I said, they only hold the contenets of the BM in at that, and they don't hold the runny stuff in. BUt when you think about it all the bodily fluids that are in a public pool.... fecal matter from the potty trained who don't wipe well, girl part (it *** out the proper word) secretions, semen (yep, I promise someone has in there) saliva, blood (does not take an open wound, just that time of the month for it to get there), and the gallons of urine that are in any busy pool.... Why worry about one baby's poopie. And this si not even counting the countless skin viruses that can be transmitted in a pool that is not properly cared for.

But if the pool is properly maintained then it the chlorine should kill everything. Also just because the water looks crystal clear does not mean it is clean! When in doubt, pick up your own test kit form Wal-Mart. The strips are $10 a box and you just dip it and read it.

Ewww......sometimes ignorance is bliss! Or a private pool! hehe One of those topics you perhaps know about, but you're really better off not thinking about too much. Kind of like germs in your office. Did you know the average office phone / desk / keyboard has 1000x more germs than a public restroom toilet?! That'll encourage you to wash your hands before lunch today! hehe
