We leave for Orlando on Sat., and our first week is at Windsor Hills. DD14 runs cross-country, and has to train all summer. The HS team is very competitive. She's expected to run at least 5 times a week, even on vacation. We were thinking she'd be okay within the gated confines of Windsor Hills, so long as she stays on the roads and obvious pathways. Has anyone done this? Are there marked trails at all? Any issues with wildlife? And does anyone have an idea of the distance around the roadways and paths? Due to the heat, I'd really rather not have her going more than 3-4 miles. She'll be running alone unless she can find a running buddy to hook up with, but one of us is likely to be out and about (walking or something), just to keep tabs on her. Any input appreciated!

I don't think she'll have any problems as far as wild life is concerned. It's just streets with sidewalks, no trails. I think I'd keep an eye on her even though it's a gated community. As far as distance goes, I don't know. WH is pretty big but she might have to make a couple of circuits. There have been people out walking or jogging when we've stayed there, so it's common.
Teascone Blvd. is the main street that runs from the main entrance over to the Livingstone Rd entrance but there are lots of other streets off that one.

This one shows the original section and the Reserve section, some only show the original but other than the roofs of the homes you don't really notice where one stops and the other section begins.

I have the map printed out, and it looks like there would be an easy circuit around the various loops. Optimally, I'd love to have her hook up with another runner, but we try to plan for the worst, which would be a parent out and about, both of us having our cell phones. She prefers to run off-road, but I'd rather she didn't when we're away from home. I'm less worried about her getting kidnapped than I am about her getting lost or hurt.

We noticed people running at least 3 or 4 times while at WH the last 2 weeks. The runners were alone (men sometimes, women sometimes) and they seemed to be just running on the sidewalks.
