Windows Mail quit working in June Help!

I have a 2007 Sony VAIO laptop with the dreaded Vista program. My Windows Mail suddenly stopped working this past June (POP 3 thing keeps showing up.). Have had to access my e-mail through Charter Communications, my internet and cable provider. Charter has been here three times, and cannot get Windows Mail to work. I cannot e-mail any moderator. (I have a question for them). I've had the same e-mail address for years, though with various computers). Don't want to spend $$$$$$$$$$$ with Geek Squad, especially if they can't fix it. I know squat about computers, and I'd welcome ANY recommendations! Thanks!

You could download an alternative email program. Windows 7 doesn't have any mail client program at all, and if you upgrade a Vista machine to Win 7, it will delete Windows Mail.

Anyway, on my Win 7 machine, I downloaded and installed Thunderbird email. It works similar to Windows Mail, but you will need to re-type your address book, as it is a different format and it will not read Windows contact list.

If you need to contact a specific DIS moderator, you could try sending them a PM rather than an email.

Thanks, Chuck! Right now, I'm stuck using e-mail through Charter Communications. g-mail doesn't work. I'm trying to contact webmasterDoc, and nothing goes through. That POP 3 problem again. How do I do a PM? I am really dumb about these things, and I admit it! I really appreciate your reply! Thank you!

Thanks! Clicked on my user name (1957). Mainly wanted to apologize for making a couple of really stupid posts early on. Can't believe I acted so stupidly! Still can't send a PM, though. Last week, I went to UserCP, and caught a blip from webmasterDOC saying I was the same person on another non-related board! Different (misspelled) user name. Obviously communicating with other Boards? I don't think I was meant to see this, but I did. it disappeared quickly. I dislike posting this publicly, but it's my only option. Once again, my sincere apologies to Lisa. Do you guys actually check our e-mail addresses to see if we're active on another board? Both boards use vBulletin and have very similar posting methods. I know for a fact that I saw this! He listed my username (although mispelled...used an "i" instead of a "u") and the other board that I've been a member of for quite some time. Is this the norm?
